I'm sat here feeding my insanely gorgeous 3 day old DS and trying to decide on his name.

It's between Frank and Callan.

Surname is an Irish McC name.

DD is Cassie, named after my great Aunt/surrogate granny (Catherine) who she never got to meet. I lean towards name with familial relevance and my taste is very retro as is DP's.

Frank was my Granda's name. He was a wonderful man who died not long after retiring to spend more time enjoying his grandkids Sad . I know my Mum would be incredibly happy and moved if we name DS in his honour.

I love Frank. It's straightforward and old-fashioned and to me is really quite cool.

Callan is the curve ball. We both really like it but I have a few reservations

Auto correct demons...callan

TittyBojangles · 16/08/2014 18:13

Use frank, it's an awesome name, though I may be a bit biased.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/08/2014 18:17

Congratulations.

Cassie is lovely but Cassie and Callan not v good together. Then again, I don't like Frank, sorry. Francis is v nice.

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/08/2014 18:25

Frank, I think.

florascotia · 16/08/2014 18:26

Frank Patrick is a name any boy or man could feel very happy with. And how nice that it honours both his grandfathers.

Francis Patrick if you're feeling formal. But if you're not, that won't blother anyone I think.

Congratulations!

BikeRunSki · 16/08/2014 18:34

Frank Patrick is a perfect name. Timeless, elegant, simple and in keeping with his heritage. Neither overused or too unusual for anyone to spell or pronounce. You can't make any assumptions about a Frank Patrick from his name.

magicalmrmistofelees · 16/08/2014 18:41

Frank Smile. I know an 18 year old frank who's in a band, it really suits him.

fabulousfour · 16/08/2014 18:42

He will get called Callum all the time. Frank is gorg

fabulousfour · 16/08/2014 18:42

Also cassie and callan too samie

florascotia · 16/08/2014 18:43

'Blother'??!! - can't type straight. So sorry. You knew I meant 'bother', I hope...

myotherusernameisbetter · 16/08/2014 19:00

I have come across a couple of Callans. I quite like it and don't mind the matchyness.

You could also have Cailean?

Since you think he will be dark, have you thought about Ciaran which means the little dark one? I have a Ciar as we didn't think he'd be little. He's 5'10 already and only turned 13 last week he went blond too for a while but we wont mention that since he is going dark again He is still very beautiful (biased much :) )

funnyoldonion · 16/08/2014 19:01

Definitely frank Patrick what a great name with sentimental value too!

Callan and Cassie are too matchy IMO

I reckon you've already decided he's a Frank! Go for it!

myotherusernameisbetter · 16/08/2014 19:03

Frank Patrick Mc... Is lovely. Good solid name that.
Congrats

Theonlyoneiknow · 16/08/2014 20:12

Might be too late but Callan gets my vote. Lots of people have to repeat their name so I wouldn't use that as a reason not to use it. It's a solid, unusual name.

Not as keen on Frank, . Cassie and Callan, fab sibset!!!

What's this high court judge crap anyway, I don't buy into all that. Both your name choices are fine

birdofthenorth · 16/08/2014 22:40

Frank is brilliant. Do it! Make your mum very happy. I know a gorgeous one year old Frank.

Congratulations!

FreeLikeABird · 16/08/2014 22:45

I like Frank Smile

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 17/08/2014 10:19

I like Frank too.

moonblues · 17/08/2014 10:40

I love the nickname Cal, so would have to go for Callan.
Congratulations!

embox · 17/08/2014 11:50

I vote for Callan!
Is Callan Frank doable?

AlpacaYourThings · 17/08/2014 11:56

Another vote for Frank, lovely name.

Congratulations on your baby, OP. Thanks

aoife24 · 17/08/2014 14:23

I'd go for Francis shortened to Frank. Francis is really rather lovely but maybe seen as too formal and religious these days which is a pity.

Purpleflamingos · 17/08/2014 14:29

Callan because I know 3 franks under 4yrs. But Cavan could be another option.

Frikadellen · 17/08/2014 15:48

Frank its my dads name and always makes me smile Good solid not over used name imo
