We are having a girl in 7 weeks time. We decided on the name Darcie- Mae (well hubby really liked it and I did too although like other names.) We have been calling her Darcie for months, told everyone thats her name and hubby brought bunting with her name on it!

The other day he heard the name Arabella and I love it.

We need some more names.... I like vintage name, Martha, Edith, Matilda and also Harper.

What other names might we like? Already have a Phoebe and Georgina and a dog called Florence lol

No! no, no, not Tallulah - she's not a showgirl!

bringbackfonzi · 16/08/2014 15:26

I love Audrey, Agatha, Bessie and Autumn. Great names! Bessie is my favourite, but I'd probably call her Elizabeth like others have said.

Thanks for your ideas.

Hubby is not warming towards Agnes or Agatha.

Sorry don't like Josephine.

Jean- we already call our Georgina Jean or genie for short so that wouldn't work

The new names you like are very different from Darcie-Mae.

I hope you don't live to regret not sticking with your first choice.

Couldn't you keep Darcy and lose the Mae and its hyphen?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 18/08/2014 23:36

Darcy is fine. Darcy May (as separate words) is also fine.

Sibling names really don't need to match do they? We just chose the name we liked the most for each baby IYSWIM.

Arabella and Tallulah are nice. Not a fan of Matilda, Agatha or Agnes though.

The baby dodged a bullet there.
Darcie-Mae is not at all in the same league as your other names imo. I think the fact that the baby has a different father from the other two makes it important to give her a name that goes with the other names. Before I read that detail it crossed my mind that poor Darcie-Mae would look like the red headed stepchild Blush.

Plus I can't get away from the arse in the middle of Darcy or Darcie. I don't care about hyphenation, or the name Mae. It's pretty, and plenty of names that are hyphenated are acceptable in my book:
Marie-Claire
Marie-Louise
Anne-Claire
Mary-Grace
Anna-Louise
Would any of those strike your fancy?

Arabella is gorgeous and suits Phoebe and Georgina really well.

I think Martha sounds a bit plain and frumpy beside Phoebe and Georgina.

Harper imo doesn't mesh well with the other names. It has a different style and is very 'of the moment'. It's Beckhamesque whereas your other names are Downton Abbey type names.

Matilda is a lovely name imo, and would go very well.
I think Edith is lovely and would go well too, in a Downton sort of way. You would have three long EE sounds in the names.

A few more names that might suit:
Annabel
Alicia
Alexandra
Louisa
Chloe
Katherine
Anna
Felicity
Vanessa
Juliet
Julia
Julianna
Tabitha
Charlotte
Emma
Cecelia

Honor -- a name that takes you in a slightly different direction but is still in the neighbourhood.
