Tabitha. No Luna. No Tabitha...

Luna?

picnicbasketcase · 13/08/2014 22:10

I like Violet and Willow. Really not keen on Tabitha.

maitaimojito · 13/08/2014 22:34

I like Willow and Luna, but I know someone who has a Logan and Leila.

LauraChant · 13/08/2014 22:52

If you are interested in out of the ordinary, and if it helps, I know children called Violet, Tabitha, Willow, and Layla. Don't know any Ravens, Rivers, Veritys, Pipers or Lunas.

AuntieStella · 13/08/2014 23:00

Tabitha or Violet - both lovely.

Layla as runner up.

misseskimo · 13/08/2014 23:45

I like Piper and Layla in that list, because I too like unusual names. When hubby and I look at possible names we deliberately try to pick ones that aren't in the current top 50 for the year! Lol. I personally think Tabitha, Violet and Willow are rather old-worldy, remind me of Downton Abbey or similar... BUT old-worldy/traditional names are really coming back into fashion atm, so why not? At the end of the day it's what you guys like best x

FreeLikeABird · 13/08/2014 23:52

Willow or tabitha.

RainbowB7 · 14/08/2014 00:00

Violet verity or Layla

ophiotaurus · 14/08/2014 00:01

Layla

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 14/08/2014 00:02

Piper is a no, because of Orange is the new black!

River, bit too new age for me.

All the rest... lovely!

Lunastarfish · 14/08/2014 08:37

Erm, Luna..

trinitybleu · 14/08/2014 08:47

Tabitha - because I have one :)

but also love Willow and Piper

loveheart45 · 14/08/2014 08:52

Violet. Xx

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 14/08/2014 08:55

Willow or Piper. Love those Smile

thoughtsescapeme · 14/08/2014 09:00

Verity is gorgeous and Violet is pretty. Also Vivienne!

Of the more hippie names, Piper is cute. Can't stand Luna, River and the like.

pilates · 14/08/2014 09:06

Violet

4boysxhappy · 14/08/2014 09:10

Tabitha

The others are a bit popular around here or slightly trying to hard to be different for my taste.

Coughle · 14/08/2014 09:13

Piper and then Willow.

MrsPatMustard · 14/08/2014 10:21

Love Violet, a beautiful, beautiful name....

florascotia · 14/08/2014 11:19

OP, your baby, your choice, of course. But - and this is a general point, not directed at you - I have honestly never understood why people in search of an unusual name go for names of a different kind of thing, rather than choosing an unusual human name.

As others have said, River means a river, Raven means a big black bird, Luna means the moon etc. To me, it seems odd to use them as first names for a child. Using the name of a particular river or bird seems much more understandable, because, for centuries, individual rivers, birds etc have been linked to myths and legends and/or treated as supernatural creatures. For example, Sabrina was the goodess of the River Severn; Afton is occasionally used as a girl's name in Scotland, because of a famous poem in which it is called 'sweet Afton'. And of course flower names are well-loved, because they symbolise beauty.

Please excuse me rambling on....

I really like Violet and Tabitha. Verity is a nice name, too, with an inspiring meaning.

ManuscriptsDontBurn · 14/08/2014 11:26

Layla!
I love that name...
It will always evoke my youth and Eric Clapton music

Though I'm sure when you see the baby you'll just know :-)

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 14/08/2014 11:30

Verity then Willow.

How about Faith, Naomi, Clara?

LauraChant · 14/08/2014 11:32

But florascotia that is how names start out isn't it? As a "thing"? I am not much of a Bible scholar but I remember Peter means rock for example. Yes, Peter is not our word for rock but I think - may be wrong - that Pierre is also the word for pebble in French.

LauraChant · 14/08/2014 11:34

OK, it isn't French for pebble! Must Google before writing. But Peter does mean rock.

Squtternutbaush · 14/08/2014 11:40

I'm not keen on any to be honest but its not my child so doesn't really matter what I, or anyone else on here thinks along you and your DP are happy with it.

If I had to choose one it would be Layla, although I know 3 of these all spelt Leila.
