It was thrown in as a curve ball from oh the other day - something I would never have thought of! What are your thoughts?

Like it, it was on our list :) and def would be a contender if we ever have another.

Theas18 · 12/08/2014 12:00

Love it. Know one, she's 18

xvxvxvxvxvxvxvxv · 12/08/2014 12:02

Gorgeous name

Tommy · 12/08/2014 12:09

always reminds me of my Irish great aunt who, when hearing that her grand-daughter had been named Hazel, said "with all the names of the Saints in Heaven and you go and call her after a bloody nut....."

Grin sorry........
burgatroyd · 12/08/2014 12:43

Love it.

Heather, Hyacinth, Hebe, willow, juniper?

squoosh · 12/08/2014 13:08

Not for me.

Hazel is a Brenda kind of name to me. Your mum's friend.

ralinax294 · 12/08/2014 13:11

Hazel is one of my favourite names!

corkgirlindublin · 12/08/2014 13:12

I've got a Hazel. She's a little stunner :-)

moggle · 12/08/2014 13:12

I love it, our friends have a 3 yr old Hazel and she is just the cutest thing in the world, so I am massively biased!

weatherall · 12/08/2014 13:15

Hazels a lovely name.

Sophronia · 12/08/2014 14:33

I'm not keen, I know a horrible Hazel in her 20s so that's put me off the name.

KittiesInsane · 12/08/2014 14:37

Hazel Grace is the protagonist of The Fault In Our Stars*. I predict a bit of a resurgence.

*The World's Best Ever Book, according to most of my soppier teenage relations.

UriGeller · 12/08/2014 14:42

I don't like it. It sounds harsh and barky. Its the female version of Rex.

I prefer more mellifluous names that are a joy to say and roll off the tongue.

violetsareblue11 · 12/08/2014 15:20

Hazel is a beautiful name! It was on the list for our DD but it didn't go with our surname so we went for another name! I love Hazel though.

NadiaWadia · 12/08/2014 17:48

It's not horrible, but fairly 'meh'. Also seems dated to me (a typical Hazel would be 50 or over?) but judging by the love on here, maybe it's coming back into fashion. Heather is much nicer, or Rowan or even Willow, if you want a 'nature/plant' name. Maybe not Myrtle though!

mummybare · 12/08/2014 18:03

I like it. In the same sort of vein:

Clover
Willow
Heather
Saffron
Robyn
Wren

TheScenicRoute · 12/08/2014 18:43

I have Hazel on my top 5 list, it reminds me of a classy well adjusted girl.

flipchart · 12/08/2014 18:49

Hate it with passion.

Bloody horrible name.
Also when I hear it I get that image of Hazel Blears wearing the t shirt that said nuts about Hazel

Vajazzler · 12/08/2014 19:02

Love it!

Itcantbelove · 12/08/2014 19:08

It's awful, too old-fashioned but not in a cute way. Like a pp said, it's like Brenda. Or Sandra.

PuppyMonkey · 12/08/2014 19:17

DD aged 7 has a Hazel in her class. Must admit, I was a bit Confused when I first heard it, as round here it's all a bit "Ayzell how ya goin' on me duck" and the sort of name a middle aged dinner lady might have. But the family are from down south. Got used to it now. Grin

TheLeftovermonster · 12/08/2014 22:19

I like it. And it is one of my favourite trees.

Umbrellasandladders · 12/08/2014 22:23

I love Hazel

sausageandorangepickle · 12/08/2014 22:41

One of my best friends is Hazel, I think it is lovely - just shows it's more about the associations than the name with all of our decisionsSmile
