I like it! Patti or Patsy would be nice nicknames.

ralinax294 · 20/07/2014 20:48

I don't mind it, but I think it would work better as a middle name

tobiasfunke · 20/07/2014 20:56

It reminds me of that Chris de Burgh song - 'Patricia the stripper'- "with a swing of her hips she started to strip, to tremendous applause she took off her drawers" etc etc

Mim78 · 20/07/2014 23:20

I like patrizia as pp suggested - wascoming on to say this!

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 23:24

My mum (60) is patricia and she ges called pat which she hates but people insist. She would prefer patsy. One sister calls her tricia.

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 23:25

And yes her family sing 'patricia the stripper' to her. Grin

scarletforya · 20/07/2014 23:33

Honestly, it's horrible.

Ugly, unfeminine, dated, frumpy........The nicknames fir it are horrible, Patty, Trish, Patsy.

Sorry but it's the truth.

Beautifullymixed · 23/07/2014 13:36

My mum's middle name- and she hates it with a passion.

Don't think it's aged well tbh. Frumpy, dumpy and old fashioned spring to mind. All the things my mum isn't. Smile

Legionofboom · 23/07/2014 13:59

I don't have strong feelings about it either way. I don't like Pat as a nn (for male or female) but nothing wrong with Patricia.

It feels like a baby boomer name to me.

ChittinIt · 23/07/2014 14:01

Middle aged, out dated. Pat. No.

PosyFossilsShoes · 23/07/2014 14:05

A bit Enid Blyton (one of the twins at St Clares was Patricia.)

Goes with the other names of that era, Janet, Doris, Mabel, Gwen, Pamela, Barbara, Mavis etc.

Vintagejazz · 23/07/2014 15:13

I really don't like it. It's dated and frumpy as opposed to vintage or timeless. I would put it on a par with names like Sheila, Geraldine and Bernadette.

gertiegusset · 23/07/2014 15:18

Awful.

gertiegusset · 23/07/2014 15:20

It makes me think of a cow Pat.
Pete Beale in Eastenders called his ex (Pat Butcher) a Cow Pat.

ShovettyMcShovetty · 23/07/2014 15:26

Honestly? I think it's horrid.

weatherall · 23/07/2014 15:56

Patsy is just about passable on a cool kid.

But it is one of the worst names.

Think pat butcher.

Shudder.

Gingerjv · 24/07/2014 19:30

Lovely name! very nice

DirtyBlonde · 24/07/2014 19:36
is the immediate and strong association for me too.
FrumpyName · 25/07/2014 06:16

I can't believe you're all being so horrible about my name! You big meanies. Grin
I have name changed as am outing myself massively. I'm Irish, from a big family. I am under 40, and called Pat, but get Patricia where I live now-different city. I'm not mad on Pat either-agree with Pat Butcher!
But I don't think of Patricia as that awful!!
I have lovely younger cousins called Patty-adorable fruit loop, and Patsy-gorgeous and clever.
Also have a friend just turned 40 and she is Trish. And I wish everyone could have someone like her in their lives. Amazing friend and mum.
So maybe because I like so many people called variants of Patricia that I like the name? And maybe Patricia's turn out to be fabulous people?
Wink

Its an older name but might come back in fashion again. Its more traditional and personally I prefer traditional names . Its your choice , your child and patrizia is lovely as well.

Jenijena · 25/07/2014 06:56

I know a teenage Patricia. DH's aunt was a Patricia but known in the family as (pronounced)Treesha

JazzAnnNonMouse · 25/07/2014 08:52

Pat butcher is all I think of.
Women of that age and type

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 25/07/2014 10:26

I would use it as a middle name, if it is a family name or important to you.

I would choose something else for a first name though Smile.
