First thing on Thursday morning and no name for 3 day old ds. I am alone in deciding as have separated from husband and he has given the 'go ahead' for me to choose. I feel this adds to the weight of responsibility. Also I am extremely unused to making decisions alone so am hoping for some further suggestions here!

So far I have:
Kitson
Rufus (the primary school child in me is singing 'Rufus the doofus')
Cassian/Cassius
Pascal (but there is an Easter connection, so not sure).

Middle name will be John, surname is the first word of the dreaded DM newspaper.

He has dark hair and skin and deep brown eyes, so can't imagine him being called Casper. DS has already nicknamed him Chip and I fear I may just go with this if I can't decide!

OP, let us know what you chose, if that's not too nosey... ok it is a bit nosey. I'm sure whatever you went for is lovely, but do let us know! Grin

I've only just come across this thread, but just wanted to say that I like all the names on your list, and adore both Rufus and Cassian, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Think we must have pretty similar taste OP!

Hope the appointment went smoothly and you've settled on something now. Please pop back and let us know what you've decided.

I cancelled the appointment! I'm a wimp! My head is all over the place and I couldn't decide today!

I am going to print out this thread and any others in baby names with helpful suggestions and have a think this weekend. Thanks so much for helping - I will definitely update with what I've chosen.

Think you did the right thing. Take your time, you have 6 weeks from birth. Even if you used all that time in relation to how long your child has to live with your name choice it is nothing really is it.

Rooflesstoofless · 17/07/2014 14:25

Well yes, but I might miss out on an amazing holiday and piss my entire family off - so that's a bit more stress on top. I'm just hopeful I can get a fast track passport appointment in August...

Ooh, was wondering if you had registered or not.
I had my money on Rufus as it sort of fits with your username and I think Rufus John Daily sounds like a someone!

I hope you have an epiphany soon and manage to get a passport Smile

ShovettyMcShovetty · 17/07/2014 16:02

I got a new passport on the day of application once. Hope you get it ok!

mumsywoo78 · 21/07/2014 01:33

Did u know that you can register a birth but leave the name section blank for up to 12 months. A name has to be added though before the childs first birthday. I found this out from a registrar after having trouble naming my son. Phone the register office and speak to them about this then give yourself plenty of time to decide on the right name.Id find out if passport office would be ok with nameless birth certificate first though.

I chose Kitson in the end which I am happy with and feel suits him.

We went with baby's dad, and he said he hates the name, but despite a fraught conversation in the register office, he insisted he wished for me to have the final say. He had come up with some excellent suggestions, but I really am happy with Kitson.

Will be applying for his passport tomorrow!

Well done OP, and welcome to the world Kitson!

SlinkyB · 22/07/2014 22:10

Jusy read the thread - congratulations on your son OP! Never heard of Kitson as a first name, but love it, and the fact you could always use "Sonny" as a nn too!

BellMcEnd · 22/07/2014 22:18

Great choice Roof and lovely to hear that you feel so happy with it. I hadn't heard of Kitson before this thread but I really like it.
