First thing on Thursday morning and no name for 3 day old ds. I am alone in deciding as have separated from husband and he has given the 'go ahead' for me to choose. I feel this adds to the weight of responsibility. Also I am extremely unused to making decisions alone so am hoping for some further suggestions here!

So far I have:
Kitson
Rufus (the primary school child in me is singing 'Rufus the doofus')
Cassian/Cassius
Pascal (but there is an Easter connection, so not sure).

Middle name will be John, surname is the first word of the dreaded DM newspaper.

He has dark hair and skin and deep brown eyes, so can't imagine him being called Casper. DS has already nicknamed him Chip and I fear I may just go with this if I can't decide!

Love Rufus and Kit.

Gorgeous names.

Bowlersarm · 16/07/2014 12:32

I think you could have a Christopher - will he have a different last name to your DB? He's probably known as Chris isn't he?

sauvignonblacks · 16/07/2014 12:34

Cassius is lovely although I think it means vain would that bother you?
Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy!

BellMcEnd · 16/07/2014 13:06

I love all your names! Congratulations Flowers. Really really like Kit, I read a book years ago where the main, likeable hero-type character was called Kit so I've always had a positive association with the name.

Scrambled did you mean to be so rude? Confused

BellMcEnd · 16/07/2014 13:08

Oh and PS Roof - I really hope things get easier for you Brewand Cake

hashtagwhatever · 16/07/2014 13:09

Cassius. Lovely name

Legionofboom · 16/07/2014 13:13

Congratulations Thanks

I like Kit - full name Christopher John best though Kitson is nice too.

Chip works as a nn for Christopher too.

Notso · 16/07/2014 13:16

I like Kitson/Kit but not sure if I like it with your surname. It sounds a bit like a publication.

I love Rufus and Cassius. I think they go with your surname better.

anythingforaquietnight · 16/07/2014 13:19

How about the Kitto, or Kittow?

It's the Cornish diminutive of Christopher

BelleOfTheBorstal · 16/07/2014 13:22

Or as a compromise between Cassius and Casper, how about Caspian?

SillyTillyTilly · 16/07/2014 13:25

I've never heard of the name Kitson. But do like Kit, preferring for Christopher or Christian

Rooflesstoofless · 16/07/2014 14:06

Kitto is interesting... Will definitely have a think about that, thank you anything. I was thinking yesterday he is like a kitten curled up on my lap.

Bell, I'm easy if someone doesn't like the names I have come up with, I'm sure Scrambled and I have completely different tastes Smile. John will definitely be the middle name after my beloved dad!

I like Kitson, but generally dislike the surname names, Greyson, Jackson etc. it really is an excuse to get Kit in a name, and I'm just not 100% on it. I just can't use Christopher, as I don't really like it (sorry mum).

Ps notso, The Kitson Daily! Ha!

Kitto - nn Kit or Chips - would be great. Unusual but not outlandish and easy to say and spell. And John is an excellent name choice, too, especially since it was your father's.

There was a thread a little while ago about another Celtic version of Christopher, ie Kester. Kit/Chips would work as nn for that, too, though I prefer Kitto.

There's also Crispin or Crispian, though they are hardly ever used now.

spence24 · 16/07/2014 17:15

Rufus is an awesome name! I know an adult Rufus, he is an incredibly talented comic book artist and a lovely guy to boot - very individual and I wonder if his name has anything to do with it!

I also know another artist with the surname of Kitson, so I'd like that one too, but now I'm just showing my nerdiness!

Sophronia · 16/07/2014 17:52

I like Kit or Pascal the best.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 16/07/2014 18:09

Cassius is good, but there is no good shortening. Cass - no. Chip is terrible.

Rufus is good.

Pascal - not really. It's ok. Doesn't really go with the surname.

Kit is however brilliant. Kitson I like, also Kitto, also Christian. If none of these appeal, how about Kester, still shortened to Kit?

It has the rhythm of Kitson which goes so well with the surname, but is a much better, traditional choice perhaps.

Good luck!

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 16/07/2014 18:11

Oh x-post florascotia

Yes Kester is Scottish isn't it? - with Kit as the usual short form.

Kester John D....y has a really good flow to it.

It's a brilliant name.

funnyoldonion · 16/07/2014 18:55

How about Beckett nn Kit or Atticus at a push? Failing that is just do Kit or Cassius John absolutely love both Kit and Cassius x congrats x

funnyoldonion · 16/07/2014 18:57

Ps I like Kitson he'd always just be Kit anyway!

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/07/2014 19:03

Pascal is my favourite it's pretty awesome I'm not going lie I would not be brave enough to use it myself but I love it. Rufus is cool too. Kit I like but kitson I'm not keen

Rufus or Kitson.

bouquetofpencils · 17/07/2014 00:42

Kit is great. Good luck!

TrickoftheMind · 17/07/2014 00:53

Call him Marcel and then use Kit as a nickname (channelling Marcel Kittel).

Sad Tour de France addict here, but it kinda works and you can show him the pics from TdF Yorkshire when he's old enough.

I'm not really expecting you to do this

Legionofboom · 17/07/2014 10:20

Oooh I like Kester nn Kit. What do you think OP?
