I'm not sure how long this full list has been out for but I always find it fascinating!

There are so many wacky names on there. You can really see language evolving (phonetic spellings) and increasing diversity (the Eastern European and African names) in society just by reading the list.

I was trying to spot what names are absent. It's quite hard looking for something that isn't there!

Since the trend on mn is to find names no one else in the child's class will have I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread on missing names.

These are the ones I've spotted.

Add any others you can think of.

Mostly what I'd think of as old fashioned names but some modern ones too.

I wonder if these will be trendy again in 20 years (hope not!)

4 people had Dd1's name. There has never been anyone at either of her schools with her name. 2 people had my name (nobody has my name ever, unless they were born in 1966-68. Perhaps it's coming back into fashion). 1 person had Dd2's name. Nobody at any of the schools the kids attend has ever had her name.

All the names are real names, not made up, and all have at least one current person in the public eye who has that name.

There's a girl called Pinky on that scottish list!

I'm interested that Zilla (or Zillah) isn't on the list for girls. It was a relative of mine's name and I've never known another.

I'd always hoped I could have it for a dd although dh has always vetoed it. We have 2 ds's which avoided the issue

Ooooh. From the England and Wales list, 5 poor kids had my name, 14 had DD1's name, and a frankly amazing 39 had DD2's name.

Just looked and seen there are 100 more of DD's name than there were on the year she was born! There were under 20 when I picked it.
I find it really funny how so many people across the country seem to fall in love with one name at the same time. Is it TV/Social media? I bet 30/40/50yrs ago it was more varied?

English 2013 list is due out on Aug 15th I believe.
