Would this be absolutely ridiculous as a middle name?

Marigold.

Also I'm not pregnant but plan on trying soonish. Blush I just think it's sweet.

But also possibly unbearably twee. Hmm

If you think you could live with people thinking you'd named her after a rubber glove...

BitOutOfPractice · 26/06/2014 16:54

Yes, that's the first thing I thought of too

foolishpeach · 26/06/2014 16:56

I like it!

Nereida · 26/06/2014 16:59

I agree it's quite sweet -I'd like to see it used!

CheerfulYank · 26/06/2014 17:05

We don't have Marigold gloves in America, or if we do they're not a household name :)

I loved the book "Magic for Marigold" when I was little, did anyone read that?

Also I seem to really like the more unusual flower names...I really wanted Primrose for DD's middle but was talked out of it. :(

Depends on the first name you choose

CheerfulYank · 26/06/2014 17:15

Across I like Phoebe. :)

Primrose is lovely

squoosh · 26/06/2014 17:18

As they're so rarely used I think anything goes as far as middle names are concerned.

CheerfulYank · 26/06/2014 17:32

It is Wishful! But I got talked into Rose instead so now I can't use Primrose really.

She's Margaret. Margaret Primrose would have benb gorgeous IMO.

Pretty and unusual, so why not?

Rhubarbgarden · 26/06/2014 23:21

I adore Marigold. If ds had been a girl it would have been his middle name.

BreeVDKamp · 27/06/2014 14:22

Love it!

FinDeSemaine · 27/06/2014 14:24

Phoebe Marigold is lovely. Primrose is also gorgeous. I wanted Clover for DD but DH hated it.

SomeSunnySunday · 27/06/2014 15:52

Lovely!

I'm a huge fan of Clover, Fin. There is no way that my DH would ever even let it on to a list, though.

CheerfulYank · 27/06/2014 16:55

I love Clover too Fin. :) I have a friend who has a beautiful little Clover.

lettertoherms · 27/06/2014 16:57

It's lovely!

AuntieStella · 27/06/2014 17:17

It's a very Jilly name (in The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous) and "let's cal, her Marigold and perhaps she will"

If you want a jolly hockey sticks vibe, it'll be splendid.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/06/2014 18:46

I wanted Clover too, but it doesn't work with our surname. Bah.

CheerfulYank · 28/06/2014 03:32

I'm American AuntieStella so I only have a vague idea of the jolly hockey sticks vibe but I think I like it! :o

Rhubarb not many things work with our surname actually. It's the same as a "journalist" who married a Frenchman and thinks she's gorgeous...

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 28/06/2014 10:34

My friend's first name is Marigold (named after the flower, not the rubber gloves), and she has gotten through life OK, so I'm sure the same would apply with it in the MN spot.

HibiscusIsland · 28/06/2014 10:36

I love Marigold and Clover

Provencalroseparadox · 28/06/2014 10:58

I love it. It was a nn of mine at one point

Marcipex · 28/06/2014 11:47

I love Marigold, really beautiful.

Sadly in the UK it's a well known brand name.

Rhubarbgarden · 28/06/2014 12:49

I don't think the brand name matters. To me, anyway, marigold is a flower first and a rubber glove second. If I had my eyes closed, and someone said "here's a marigold" I would assume they were holding a flower not a glove. It's not like the brand names Hoover or Andrex which just conjure up the product.
