Have included the NN we would likely use in each case:

Jessica (Jessie/Jess)
Josephine (Josey/Jo)
Madeline (Maddie)

Madeleine (but only because I'm a Maddy, short for something else though)
Love Jessica :)
Not as keen on Josephine

All of them are lovely but I think Jessica is my favourite with Josephine a close second.

My favourite is definitely Josephine (Josie).

I like Josephine best, then Jessica.

I like Jessica best.

Madeline is lovely, but the association would put me off using it.

I'm not keen on Josephine, although it's perfectly nice.

I don't know any child under 5 with any of those names. I know a Jessica and a 2 Josies in the 5-10 bracket. I don't know any Madelines.

Thank you. I really love Jessie, there's old family history of that name. I was going to go for Jessica purely because it would give her some options. I've never met anyone with either name, so maybe it's just not that popular around here.

Josephine is the one of the few names DP and I totally agree on. I love Josie, Josephine sounds more grown up, so it will age well. We also really like Maisie (have posted a separate thread about this name).

Bellyrub, love all your names but Jessica is my favourite and the nicknames Jess/Jessie are just as nice.

Definitely not Josephine, I really dislike that name. Jessica would be my choice.

My grandmother is Josephina which I think I prefer to just Josephine. She's Josie by some friends and was at work and Sephie by family and close friends as nickname

Madeline is gorgeous, honestly don't worry about the association.

Jessica is nice but does seem a bit dated to me. Not keen at all on Josephine.

I know lots of Jessica's. Not my fav name.

I'm not a big fan if Madeline or Maddy.

I like Josephine... Got lots of nn potentials... Jo, Josie, Posy, Fifi, Phiny

.... And it's not popular... Only know my mum with this name!

Yes to Madeleine rather than Madeline, I assumed that was a typo.

The nicknames are some of the reasons I would go against Josephine, Jo is fine, but I really don't like Josie (or Posy or Fifi as pps have suggested).

I like Josephine with the nicknames Josie and Posey/Posy
Jessica is nice but very popular
Madeline just reminds me of Madeleine McCann

Josephine is lovely - my favourite out of your options.

Jessica and Madeleine were both on our short list (the others were Jennifer and Juliet). We went with Madeleine, just because the popularity of Jessica put me off. People are generally not rude enough to mention the McCann association once the baby is here only one exception

Love them all but Jessica is my favourite.

They're all lovely, but Josephine is definitely the most versatile when it comes to shortenings/nicknames (Jo, Joey, Josie, Posy, etc), and not as widely used as the others these days, if it would bother you that your DD would have several others with the same name in her class at school (and take it from someone who's name has been in the top 10 since forever, and has consequently always had at least one other person with my name in every single class I've ever been in - it gets very annoying!)

Madeleine, then Jessica. Both lovely names.

Not so keen on Josephine, it's ok but a bit clunky to my ears/eyes.
