Does Minnie mean Fanjo where you live?

I love the name and had never heard that it was a name for female bits and bobs until looking on Mumsnet. I am considering it for DC2 (if a girl) but don't want to lump her with a yoni name.

So does Minnie mean Fanjo to you and if yes which county do you live in?

I would also be interested to know which areas Minnie is just the name of a mouse.

I'm in Essex and have several friends who use Minnie in that way - sorry!

mrssmith79 · 30/05/2014 15:19

Tyne & Wear - never heard it called that before!

MelanieCheeks · 30/05/2014 15:20

Minnie's my dog. Not my pussy.

HavannaSlife · 30/05/2014 15:22

Midlands and yes I know people who use it that way

burgatroyd · 30/05/2014 15:22

I know a mother who calls her fanjo Minnie. she did have a c section. Mine is now a maxi.

beeny · 30/05/2014 15:22

Don't live in Middlesbrough but that is what a lot of girls call it in child abuse cases.

Verynearlytea · 30/05/2014 15:23

I just chortled out loud Melanie. And no need to be sorry 5years, I know it is a name for a fanny just wanted to map out where my future daughter could be safe from sniggering.

Of course I'll not allow her to move ever.

Aside from the fanjo connection what if she's a big lass? There's got to be other names you like out there. Or at least give her a long name like Minerva, Mindy, Wilhelmina, Hermione, Araminta or Jasmine where Minnie can be a nn.

DillyBob14 · 30/05/2014 15:30

My daughter is called Minnie and she has never had comments about female bits.

Verynearlytea · 30/05/2014 15:33

burgatroyd - I'm due on Halloween so Minerva is def being considered. As is Dumbledore if it's a boy.

No - down in Surrey and never heard it called a Minnie before.... I would think Driver or Mouse before I thought fanjo...

burgatroyd · 30/05/2014 16:09

Dilly, is Minnie short for anything?

Mrsindecision · 30/05/2014 16:43

A friend of mine at University was from Surrey halfdoneharris and used the term "Minnie" to refer to her female parts. It's definitely a term I've heard many times.

florascotia · 30/05/2014 16:47

Traditionally, Minnie was short for Wilhelmina. An alternative (which I prefer) was 'Minna'.

In parts of Scotland, Minnie was a nickname for Mother. I don't think that it's used now.

17leftfeet · 30/05/2014 16:51

When I lived in North Yorkshire I knew people that used Minnie that way

I also had an auntie Miriam that was called Minnie so it was all very confusing

Bunbaker · 30/05/2014 16:53

No.South Yorks. Minnie is a mouse or an actress.

Angelto5 · 30/05/2014 17:11

Yes, my cousins called it that growing up, and they live in Cornwall.

Yep, Minnie in this house. North West.

pinkgirlythoughts · 30/05/2014 17:40

I live in North Lincolnshire, and it was quite commonly called a minnie where I lived.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 30/05/2014 17:46
