Does Minnie mean Fanjo where you live?

I love the name and had never heard that it was a name for female bits and bobs until looking on Mumsnet. I am considering it for DC2 (if a girl) but don't want to lump her with a yoni name.

So does Minnie mean Fanjo to you and if yes which county do you live in?

I would also be interested to know which areas Minnie is just the name of a mouse.

Here, in Tyne and Wear, OH has just this very moment declared "why does the dog sit rummaging at her foof when she can see I'm trying to eat my tea". Not a Minnie in sight!

Norfolk and yes Minnie is slang/short for fanjo.

It was also the same meaning in Lincolnshire.

ginzillas · 30/05/2014 18:22

My daughter is known by family and friends as Minnie. Her long name is Marianne. I had never heard of the connection until coming on here after she was already named.

ginzillas · 30/05/2014 18:23

We call it 'foof too. Yorkshire!

Verynearlytea · 30/05/2014 20:06

5madthings I'm a Norfolk dumpling born and bred and have never heard Minnie used as a word for fanny, my mum is also from Naaaarich so it's not like I was born to outsiders, although she did go outside of the family for a husband ;)

I did grow up with a girl called Minnie though so maybe out of politeness my mum refrained from naming my bits Minnie.

Yes, Minnie is short for Fanjo in my part of Wiltshire / Gloucestershire.

I used to know a girl called Mary Jane and that is another euphemism that I used growing up. To me it always feels odd when I used to use her name. I never commented, but I did always think of it.

teafortwo · 30/05/2014 21:20

TOTALLY means it here. Suffolk. My posh MIL who lives abroad called her dog Minnie. DD almost lost control of her own min at the absolute hilarity of the choice In name!

Muskey · 30/05/2014 21:26

I am from Wales originally but live in Surrey now. In Wales a fanjo is often referred to a Vjojo. Not sure how or why but we use mini for lady bits.

justhayley · 30/05/2014 21:30

Hertfordshire and yes definitely think Fanjo with Minnie

scottishmummy · 30/05/2014 21:32

If it means minge anywhere in country you cant consider it

ForeskinHyena · 30/05/2014 21:47

Yes, central/East Anglia.

Alisvolatpropiis · 31/05/2014 00:29

Nope. South Wales

scottishmummy · 31/05/2014 00:40

Doesnt=minge where i am.but fact is its got that connotation
Like ned,dont go there

Guin1 · 31/05/2014 01:06

In Australia, Minnie is definitely a mouse. Or a car. Not that that is much help to you!

Bunbaker · 31/05/2014 06:36

Well! You learn something new every day. Perhaps we should have another thread with names to avoid.

Hakluyt · 31/05/2014 06:41

Yep. Definitely here in Kent. My children are 13 and 18 and still find it tediously hilarious that there is a photograph of their great grandmother Minnie on the wall......

devoncreamtea · 31/05/2014 09:48

what a shame though - cute name!

maybe call her Vulva? No one seems to call their bits that....!!!

My friend in the midst of hormonal post birth fug, had to be talked down from calling her beautiful daughter 'Lochia'.....!!!!!!!

What are the other names on your list?

SpawningSalmon · 31/05/2014 16:57

Minnie here in Berkshire. Pinched from a friend who calls it that in Wiltshire.

Verynearlytea · 31/05/2014 19:42

Ha! scottishmummy I love Ned as a name but I am also a mummy north of the border and just couldn't do it. Although I didn't know about Neds until I came north.

Seeing as there are a few areas where Minnie does not mean Fanjo, I may as devoncream suggests just go for a more obvious Vulva or Minge just so no one misses out on a giggle.

Yes, Minnie is used in Devon, not as much as Fairy though.

OddBoots · 31/05/2014 19:49

Yup, South Bedfordshire.

LoveSardines · 31/05/2014 19:52

N London / herts- no never heard that

I wonder if it's a families thing rather than an area thing

Found out a bloke at work's children have some ludicrous name for their bits that I had never heard before, he doesn't live far from me, so that was weird.

Hakluyt · 31/05/2014 19:58

Must be a bloody big family!
