I seem to be considering names that were common when i was at high school in the 90's (them were the days, eh?!). There was loads of Sarah's, Louise's, Emma's....any similar names you can suggest?

...and Katie!

TheGirlFromIpanema · 27/05/2014 22:49

To be a truly 70's baby girl you need a hyphenated name with Louise or Jane as the second bit Grin

I'm a bit older than you but all 3 of those names were popular with my age group. Also popular were Cla(i)re, Sally, Helen, Heather, Jane, Samantha, Alison, Karen, Catherine, Rachel, Ruth, Michelle, Susan, Suzanne, Nicola, Emma, Julie, Joanne, Lisa, Justine, Deborah/Debbie, Amanda/Mandy.

More popular than they are now but not super popular: Ann(e), Esther, Gillian, Linda, Angela, Valerie (I think all of those had already had their moment but hadn't quite gone out of fashion).

I was always jealous of my friend Sian I wanted her name.

CPtart · 01/06/2014 21:08

1988 school leaver- lots of Louise, Nicola, Joanne, Wendy, Karen, Ann, Christine, Carol, Fiona, Tracy, Sharon, Donna, Janet, Alison, Lisa, Helen, Jane, jackie, but also a Loretta and an Olivia which was very unusual at the time!

lisbapalea · 01/06/2014 21:09

I have a total 1970s name that's been mentioned lots on this thread.

I've also been accused of naming my own two daughters after classmates - it's true they share their names with girls in my year, but they're not named after them! They are K aty and H annah.
Clearly outing myself to anyone who knows me!

IceRocket · 01/06/2014 21:26

Yes I'm one of these, Michelle, Amanda, Sarah, Louise, Laura, Katie, Claire, Emma, Karen, Melissa, Stephanie, Helen, Jennifer, Lisa, Lindsay, Rachael, Nicola, Rebecca, Natalie, Hannah, Sally, Claire, Anna.

Will have to come back and do my list but it's the first time I have ever seen my name mentioned on a names thread. Quite gratified it was still popular into the 90s.
