I seem to be considering names that were common when i was at high school in the 90's (them were the days, eh?!). There was loads of Sarah's, Louise's, Emma's....any similar names you can suggest?

I was at high school in the 90s and my name has popped up multiple times on this thread.
All my friends were Jenny, Vicky, Claire or Sarah.
All of us had Louise or Marie or Jane as a middle name! They were the equivalent of today's Rose and May.

avocadoadvantage · 26/05/2014 22:53

Sarah. We had a few of these in my year at school. Jennifer was the most popular name so we had Jen, Jenny and Jenni!

ThingsThatShine · 26/05/2014 22:55

Melissa

knickernicker · 26/05/2014 22:57

I was at school with Lisa, Joanne, Tracey, Sarah, Melanie, Sam, Anna, Helen, Dawn, Jenny, Nicola, Caroline, Kelly, Kerry, Kim, Danielle, Amande, Yvonne, Suzanne, Michaela.

Eastpoint · 26/05/2014 22:58

When was Danielle popular?

weebleknievel · 26/05/2014 22:59

Rachel, Laura, Emma, Katie

Everyone seemed to have Jane/Jayne as a middle name

LauraChant · 26/05/2014 23:07

Yes indeed SnapeandLily

When I have persuaded someone to use Sorensen as a name my job here will be done.

SnapeAndLily · 26/05/2014 23:10

I love that book Smile I ate tomato sandwiches for ages after reading it!

meditrina · 26/05/2014 23:11

I'm older, but we had lots of Sarahs and Louises in my day too.

Along with several of: Debbie, Karen, Joanne, Donna, Tracy, Cathy and Diane.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 26/05/2014 23:14

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/05/2014 23:17

Rachel
Lindsay
Jane
Laura
Emma
Sarah
Victoria
Louise
There were at least five of each of these in my year in the 1990's! Sound so dated now!

manicinsomniac · 26/05/2014 23:22

My secondary school year group from the 90s had:

7 Lauras, 6 Sarahs, 6 Emmas, 4 Joannes, 3 Lisas, 3 Rebeccas, 3 Hannahs, 2 Nicolas, 2 Joannas, 2 Lindseys, 2 Amys, 2 Gillians, 2 Helens, 2 Staceys, 2 Clares, Faye, Beth, Fiona, Donna, Catherine, Amanda, Helena, Ophelia, Kerry, Lorraine, Carrie-Ann, Liesl, Nicolette, Karen.

I think that was about it. So little variation!!

manicinsomniac · 26/05/2014 23:29

I don't think many of these names are all that dated scarlettsmummy

I currently or in the last couple of years teach/have taught children aged 7-13 called the following names from this thread:

Rachel, Sarah, Emma, Victoria, Rebecca, Amy, Catherine, Beth, Stephanie, Juliet, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Kate, Cathy, Katie, Danielle, Anna, Lucy, Gemma, Hannah, Felicity, Madeleine, Roxanne, Kayleigh, Natalie, Naomi and Hayley.

Breezy1985 · 27/05/2014 00:11

My niece is 2 and a Sarah, my other niece has Laura as a mn and dd has Louise as mn :)

MyNameIsSuz · 27/05/2014 06:33

Eastpoint there were loads of Danielles my age, I left school in 2000.

Anchorage · 27/05/2014 06:45

Amanda's. Deborah's, Alison's and Angela's. and a fair few Karen's and Lucy's.

you could probably nail the year of my birth in a heartbeat.

treaclesoda · 27/05/2014 08:17

Strangely, going by this thread, all the Lucys I know are under the age of 8, I don't know any adults called Lucy. I think in the UK names are very regional because I often see threads here where people mention a name being a bit more unusual for a little girl and I'm thinking 'eh? I know loads of them'. Or vice versa, a name is said to be too popular and I've never met a child with that name.

Eastpoint · 27/05/2014 13:15

Thank you MynameisSuz. Thinking you & all those who left school around then must be late 20s makes me feel ancient.

MyNameIsSuz · 27/05/2014 17:21

30 this year Eastpoint!

DessieLou · 27/05/2014 22:09

Loving these lists. I keep being reminded of old school friends. Smile
weeble you are so right about everyone having Jane as a mn! Or Louise.
