My husband is from Ireland and we live in Wales. We both love the name Aoibhinn Frances for a girl (Ay-veen) but I'm worried that she will spend the rest of her life spelling and having her name mispronounced! We also like Elin Frances. Any opinions and other name suggestions are appreciated! :-)

Aoi is always pronounced eee, I thought.

The Ay-veen I know is spelled Aibhín

The Aoibheann's I know are both pronounced Ee-vun (sort of, it's hard to get the un bit right, but the stress is on the ee sound in the first syllable).

Lots of Aoibheanns/Aoibhunns pronounce their names Ay-veen. They're wrong though ;) (Goes for lots of other Irish names too - because most people don't speak a word of Irish once they leave school they don't always remember the rules, hence lots of mispronunciations and misspellings, even in Ireland.)
