As my suggestion of the name Hades didn't go down well I figured I would post the rest of my list. I hope think that the rest of the names I like are a little less controversial. Judge away :)

My favourites:
Knox
Diggory
Neville
Axel

Other half's favourites:
Gannon
Brody
Brennon
Nathan
Simon

*We both like all the names but we both have our favourites.

You did say judge away!
And Hades is, well, you decided against it anyway.
I am a lover of more traditional names I suppose, you go with you both want. Just don't ask for opinions if you don't want them! Good luck and enjoy your new baby boy Thanks

SS3J · 09/04/2014 07:53

I like Diggory actually. It makes me think of the CS Lewis book The Magician's Nephew, although in that it was spelt Digory I think. I also like Brody/Brodie. The others are not really to my taste. Gannon does make me think of Gammon unfortunately. Nothing wrong with Nathan or Simon, they're just a bit dull compared to your others!

Yama · 09/04/2014 07:57

JustALittleConfused - I like your names.

Nev is a pretty cool nickname for Neville.

I've never heard of Gannon but now you say that it is Irish I like it.

Brody spelt Brodie is getting quite popular in Scotland.

My least favourite is Simon.

Only1scoop · 09/04/2014 07:59

Gannon and Brennan....both surnames so is 'Neville' and that one also reminds me of Catherine Tates 'burger van' sketch....Knox sounds 'Brangelina'.

Tranquilitybaby · 09/04/2014 08:03

I only really like Brody out if your list. However, it doesn't matter what others think, your child your choice. The world would very dull if we all like the same names x

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/04/2014 08:20

OP - Baby names is the worst place on MN. Worse than AIBU. People can be very rude about their thoughts on a name.

I have been in tears before as someone asked for thoughts on a name (which my DS is called) and it was utterly slated. However, after my initial upset I got over it. We called him that name because WE liked it. I am glad I never asked for opinions on here first TBH.

I think because you said 'Judge Away' in your post that meant people would have been ruder than normal (I think anyway!!)

PerhapsNot · 09/04/2014 08:50

OP It's because you asked posters to judge away. Posters are being honest because that is what they assume you wanted.

You also mentioned posting before so you must have realized how it works Confused

I agree that posters still shouldn't be rude though.

JustALittleConfused · 09/04/2014 11:13

You can be honest without being rude.

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/04/2014 11:35

I agree, a simple 'not for me' or 'don't like it' would do.

According to MN my DS will never make anything of himself because of his name!! WTF.

Please go with what YOU love and not a bunch of rude random strangers think on the internet, it isn't a true cross section of society (I don't think anyway)

sonlypuppyfat · 09/04/2014 11:35

Well we are not judging on an actual person just a list of names.

LittleSF · 09/04/2014 11:45

I really love Brody (prefer that spelling to the -ie), that would be my favourite of the list.

I like Brennon, with Bren as an abbreviation. A bit different but not too much.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/04/2014 11:54

Pmsl. I'd suggest letting someone else name the poor child.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 09/04/2014 11:57

I wasn't trying to be rude just honest and suggest some possible connotations that might come up.

Sorry if I upset you.

squoosh · 09/04/2014 12:00

Oh come on, you can expect a simple 'yes' or 'no' to names like Diggory, Knox and Gannon!

Hmmmmm, anyone else think Diggory, Knox and Gannon sounds like a firm of solicitors from Harry Potter?

rowna · 09/04/2014 12:06

I like is Brody best.

SinglePringle · 09/04/2014 12:13

Not massively keen on any of them but if pushed, I'd go for Nathan known as Nate. I like Nate.

Some in a similar vein:

Hunter
Scout (although I'd probably use it for a girl)
Rufus
Dexter
Sacha

squoosh · 09/04/2014 12:21

Sorry that I meant to say 'you can't expect a simple 'yes' or 'no' to names like Diggory, Knox and Gannon!

RalphRecklessCardew · 09/04/2014 19:20

Douglas or Digby instead of Diggory?

sandberry · 09/04/2014 20:42

Knox- fine, think some may associate with Amanda Knox but not in 10 years time
Diggory-fits current old man trend, will come back eventually
Neville-as will Neville, I hate it personally but there is nothing wrong with it perhaps a bit too associated with Harry Potter
Axel- great name, I love it

Gannon- nice sounding, never heard it before
Brody-perfectly nice
Brennon-nice, I like it
Nathan-love it and like Nate for short
Simon-personally hate it more than Neville but it is perfectly fine.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 09/04/2014 20:44

Gannon means 'go on' where I live - as in 'Gannon, hit it' yelled loudly at a footballer...

Iwasagnome · 10/04/2014 10:46

Better to be warned now than have your child teased about their name

MrsRuffdiamond · 10/04/2014 11:13

Diggory Venn is a Thomas Hardy character. To carry on the theme how about -

Gabriel
Jude
Angel

Clym
Damon
Reuben
