Hattie or Hettie?

I know it is only a teeny difference but anyway which do you prefer?

Hettie. Bizarrely my split-second opinion was Hattie, but when I considered further I changed my mind. So, both, I guess. Which really doesn't help you

Neither - I have a friend who called her DD Charlotte and thought it was a lovely name, then she calls her Lottie.

Sorry but I'm not a fan of abbreviated names

I think I'd go Harriet with nn Hattie (I quite like Harriet) - Hettie reminds me this, which I currently have on my desk...

Also I'd be clear it's a nn - think you will always be asked 'what's it short for?' because both do sound very nn-ish.

If you can't choose between the nns then choose based on whcih of the given names you'll prefer. Henrietta or Harriet?

Harriette or Harriet I don't like shortened names.

It would 100% be Hettie or Hattie on the BC......I know it's a mumsnet thing having something "proper" on the BC but just as some may see them as being nicknamey I don't! so please don't try to persuade me!

Hattie makes me think of Tom's Midnight Garden. Lovely.

I know a Hattie and when I call her harriette she always says thank you it makes me feel more grown up she's 9.

Hattie can be rhymed with more rude things, so I'd go for Hettie.

I have a Harriet & we call her Hatty. So I'd go with Hattie out of the two.

I don't think it's just a 'mumsnet thing' to have a full name on the birth certificate, your DD will always be explaining that Hattie / Hettie is her given name & not short for anything. I knew a bloke called Cass, he found it very irritating.

And ds3 has a nn on his bc too

Ds2 was going to be Hetty if he was a girl. So obviously I prefer Hettie.

If bump is a girl, she'll be Harriet nn Hatty/Hattie, so Hattie gets my vote.
