Lila and Rosa are both proper names though? Both pretty.

Blau sounds like someone vomiting.

Snargaluff · 11/03/2014 21:09

Blau is awful. And no one will pronounce it Blau, they'll say blaugh or something.
Lila is nice but will people say lyla?
Rosa is nice too.

HanSolo · 11/03/2014 21:10

I fink Rot is gut, ja!

LindaMcCartneySausage · 11/03/2014 21:11

Braun and Schwartz don't do it for me, sorry.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 11/03/2014 21:14

Just don't go for Braun. Blau is not great either TBH.

MagicalHamSandwich · 11/03/2014 21:14

'Blau' is also German vernacular for 'drunk' - just a point to consider. IMHO it's also not very nice.

Lila and Rosa are completely fine. Rosa I actually like a great deal (it was my nana's name).

changeforthebetter · 11/03/2014 21:14

Gelb, anyone? Grin

MagicalHamSandwich · 11/03/2014 21:18

Actually, Grün promises a lifetime's worth of fun with trying to get folks to pronounce the umlaut correctly ... Grin

Snargaluff · 11/03/2014 21:19

Gelb would be particularly nice.

How about hell-blau?

glucose · 11/03/2014 21:21

Orange then the English would geddit

MyNameIsKenAdams · 11/03/2014 21:23

To be fair, in amongst all the text speak I had trouble picking out the names.

Weegiemum · 11/03/2014 21:24

Do you have German connections?

My dh's dad is German and dh has a German name (complete with umlaut). He's spent his whole life spelling it out, and that's with the unusual even-for-Germany surname.

Dh doesn't mind much now, in his 40s, but his childhood/adolescence was a haze of bullying.

Bunbaker · 11/03/2014 21:25

These don't really work either:
Purpur
Pfirsich
Kastanienbraun
Rostbraun

Lila and Rosa a lovely names anyway, but I don't think any other German colours work.

And before anyone is rude about your post, can I just mention that it isn't good netiquette to use text speak on forums like this.

MagicalHamSandwich · 11/03/2014 21:29

Ocker and Zinnober, twin brothers!

glucose · 11/03/2014 22:25

Would it need to be German? Can we have posts from speakers of other languages to keep this going...

MyNameIsKenAdams · 11/03/2014 22:30

Noir
Rouge
Verde

Sound like Xmen.

glucose · 11/03/2014 22:42

Excellent work mynameis

AuntieStella · 11/03/2014 22:44

Chinese names can be colours. Hong was very frequently used in Maoist days.

alita7 · 11/03/2014 22:48

I like Lila and Rosa but not Blau sorry.

Spanish colour names that work:

Violetta
Rosa
Blanca

I don't think anything really works...

glucose · 11/03/2014 22:48

What colour is little Hong pls?

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 11/03/2014 22:54

Murasaki... I have forgotten how to spell it... purple in Japanese and the author of the first novel written in Japanese, I think, if I remember rightly... unfortunately it is a very dull, long, repetitive novel...

AuntieStella · 11/03/2014 22:56

Hong is red. And a fine Communist name!

Magix · 11/03/2014 22:57

Lila and rosa are lovely . I particularly like rosa .

What is an umlaut ?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 11/03/2014 23:11

It's a wind up I bet!Grin 'Wot do you think?' Hmm
