Midori- green in Japanese, and genuinely a name.

ZingSweetMango · 12/03/2014 02:03

I hope you are not considering Eva as first name and Braun as middle name.

Wurstwitch · 12/03/2014 02:38

Er ist ein troll, naturlich.

ZingSweetMango · 12/03/2014 03:34

ah, Wunderbar

ZingSweetMango · 12/03/2014 04:45

Anyway how is Rose a German colour? Confused

aGirlDownUnder1 · 12/03/2014 06:36

Rosa und Lila ist gut aber Blau ist nicht gut.

BananaHammocks · 12/03/2014 07:39

Midori is also an alcoholic drink isn't it? Melon flavoured possibly?

Mrsindecision · 12/03/2014 08:03

I hope it's a wind up as (I'm sure it's already been mentioned) "er ist blau" means "he's drunk"! Not a good way for a little baby to enter the world. Rosa and Lila are fine though - stick to those!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 12/03/2014 15:45

Rose (pronounced rosa) is German for light pink. Pink is German for pink.

How about Grau? That's better than Blau. Both would get you laughed out of Berlin, mind...

EauRouge · 12/03/2014 15:54

Dunkelrot for a boy. Dunk for short.

ZingSweetMango · 12/03/2014 16:29

Psammy

oh, I know that, but Rosa/Rose means pink in many languages, not just German.
same with Lila/Lilac so they can't be really called "German colours".

it ain't right.just ain't

glucose · 12/03/2014 16:42

This could lead into a good old Steiner debate..Goethe colour theory etc... Rosa and Lila are carving wood this morning, and modelling wax later if they want too

MagicalHamSandwich · 12/03/2014 17:24

Actually, glucose, I know a good few people who went to Waldorf/Steiner type schools in German speaking countries (it's a work thing).

For some odd reason, all of them are called either Julian or Raphael. Confused

glucose · 12/03/2014 17:32

Steiner more mainstream in Germany....with mainstream named children...but cause of heated mn deb
ate in past when parents have sought opinions on UK Steiner Schools...I am just bored...cos I ain't cleva enuff to start amusing type thread independently....

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 12/03/2014 19:17

Oh sorry Zing, I thought it was a more basic question than it was!

Maybe it's the charming pronounciation the op is after? Grin

In which case, I might direct you, OP, to this little video by way of inspiration.

ZingSweetMango · 12/03/2014 19:54

no worries Psammy I know how you meant it.Smile

I'm just grumpy.

Nataleejah · 14/03/2014 13:35

My goodness... Are we out of HUMAN names?

ZingSweetMango · 14/03/2014 16:31
