Here's a challenge...

Names for a baby girl that don't start in A or E, end in -a or -ie (or y), are outside the top 50, not shooting up the popularity charts AND not too barmy.

Told you it was a challenge Grin

Everything I love so far seems to tick one or all of the above boxes, so I'm looking to add a bit of variety to my list. The names on my longish longlist that meet these criteria so far (none of them feels quite right though):

Juno
Camille
Juliet
Claudine
Vivienne

Any more?

Thanks grown.

Clare is the name of a young relative - underused classic though. I actually really like Pearl but it would clash spectacularly with our surname.

Clara is lovely but ends in 'a' and Grace has to be top 50, doesn't it? Told you it was a challenge!

Opal wouldn't work for the same reason as Pearl - she would sound like a piece of costume jewellery Grin

Faith and Christabel....now they are lovely

Pretty certain Scarlett is top 50 too! Warned you it's tougher than it looks.
Hope is a great suggestion. Ticks all the boxes.

Oooh struggling to keep up now. Some great names coming (hello Maeve!), some I love but have to disqualify on the grounds of popularity/shooting-uppedness.

-th ending names don't appeal to me - they feel a bit buttoned up. But since they meet the criteria, they're going on the list.

Oh sorry, Coral or Amber wouldn't work. Coraline is still good.

adaloveslace · 03/03/2014 11:44

Coraline is just gorgeous - sadly DH gave me the Raised Eyebrow Of Death when I suggested it recently.

DD has a version of a Rose name, so Roisin, Rosalind etc all out for us.

I think Norah is ripe for a revival though possibly not by me. -ah ending names are slightly bending the rules though, people.
