She's here - but is she Tess, Bethan or Romilly? Help!

I thought the name would become clear once we saw her - but no. Just can't decide from our final 3 names:

  • Tess (Tessa on birth certificate)
  • Bethan (love Beth, but too Welsh?)
  • Romilly (is this too unusual?)

We would really appreciate your speedy views!

Romilly is pretty but something a bit twee and posh about it. Sounds as if its increasing in popularity if it's being discussed on here and several have bagged it already.
Tess is a short name beginning with T.
I would go with Bethan. It's a nice traditional Welsh name. Bethany is a more common name with the English than Bethan.

Nocomet · 26/02/2014 09:34

I know Bethan's from both sides of the border and I love Beth.

Romilly is easy to pronounce and spell and fun.

Tess(a) just doesn't pass the crown court judge test. Sorry Tess is the dinner lady not the head teacher.

knickernicker · 26/02/2014 11:15

I'm not sure about the crown court test. I think you're more likely to get a judge Tessa than a Judge Bethan. Tess and Tessa are fairly middle class names. Plus there's the MP Tessa Jowell.

Update please OP??

Laughing about the crown court judge test. We googled my LO's full name when he was a newborn and found he shares it with a judge in the US.

WhiteHairReally · 27/02/2014 21:55

what about Romola?

MarvellousMechanicalMouseOrgan · 01/03/2014 19:42

I like Tessa, Tess, Romilly and Beth.

Not keen on Bethan.

Congrats!

YouGrateMyCheese · 01/03/2014 19:53

Tess! I could easily see Tess as a head teacher - there's something efficient yet relaxed about her.

Bathsheba · 01/03/2014 20:36

I have a Tess. She is amazing. And beautiful.

mathanxiety · 01/03/2014 22:10

Tess, and Tess on BC too.
Congratulations!

Bethan is meh.
Romilly too like roly poly imo.

pontoufle · 03/03/2014 15:55

I have a wonderful friend in France who's a Romelie. Pronounced the same but I think a beautiful spelling!

shallweshop · 03/03/2014 16:04

I love Romilly. Almost wish I could change 9 year old DD's name - she would really suit it!

squoosh · 03/03/2014 16:08

'Tess(a) just doesn't pass the crown court judge test. Sorry Tess is the dinner lady not the head teacher.'

Hmm Hmm Hmm Hmm

Is it 1952 where you live dear?

BlackberryandNettle · 03/03/2014 21:36

To me Tessa (though not just Tess) would be the most likely crown court judge of the 3, Bethan the least. Purely based on the ones I have met - don't actually know any Romillys. Like all 3 names!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/03/2014 21:39

Tessa/Tess or Bethan/Beth, not Bethany. Romilly is just awful.

stripes1 · 03/03/2014 21:40

Bethany would get my vote

RonaldMcDonald · 03/03/2014 21:42

Romilly is lovely
