Thanks all. Our surname is Scottish (long, beginning with s) so wondering if that makes a difference to using Cameron or not?? (We're not Scottish)

Depends too how much you mind a name being shortened, Cameron is always shortened here to Cam Or Cammie

squoosh · 19/02/2014 16:12

Luke.

Cameron is a bit wishy washy.

lentilsoup21 · 20/02/2014 09:14

It's funny, I think of Cameron as being quite a strong name. I also really like the shortened form of Cam. BUT, I am worried about the David Cameron thing...is that going to immediately spring to mind for people? Argh!

Luke - no controversial political connotations and a lovely, classic but still modern sounding name

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 20/02/2014 09:21

Luke.
Sorry to be horrid but each Cameron I have met (5 of them) have been unruly and unpleasant children. So I naturally see the name in a less pleasant light. Sorry!!

Dovahkiin · 20/02/2014 10:24

Cameron was my first crush in Neighbours years ago. For that reason alone you should choose it.

Lottiedoubtie · 20/02/2014 10:25

Luke by a country mile.

lentilsoup21 · 20/02/2014 15:23

Neverknowingly, don't worry,no offence taken - I need people to be honest! Seems Luke might be the favoured option.

Any others got thoughts on Luke or Cameron?

TIA

Cameron. I have one and not one person has mentioned David Cameron. I think it'd go better with a Scottish surname too.

TheProsAndConsOfHitchhiking · 20/02/2014 15:27

Cameron. I have a Cameron with a very strong scottish surname (we are not scottish) It works well.

Oh and My Cameron is not unruly or unpleasant Wink

Needingthework · 20/02/2014 15:31

Cameron. I always think of Luke as being a bit feeble - like luke warm...

scarletforya · 20/02/2014 15:32

Luke

Bowlersarm · 20/02/2014 15:34

If you like Cameron, I really wouldn't worry about an association with David Cameron. David Cameron is a Tory prime minister with loads before him, and no doubt loads after him, assuming the conservatives are elected again. He is but a passing name, albeit a current one which makes it topical.

justmuddlingalong · 20/02/2014 15:36

Cameron. I have one too and have never thought of the David Cameron thing. My Cameron is a lovely young man, I'm very proud of him. Grin

lentilsoup21 · 20/02/2014 15:39

Thanks for your replies. Those with Camerons, do you shorten to Cam and/or ever introduce your son as Cam?

OP posts:
justmuddlingalong · 20/02/2014 15:42

Mine is known as Cam or his 1st and middle name initials.
