Honest opinions please.

It's nice enough. Although usually just shortened to Harry. I know two Harrison's and both are Harry one is 12 and the other 4.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 09/02/2014 15:51

No. Would be considered chavvy round here.

Bowlersarm · 09/02/2014 15:53

Not a fan. Harry is much nicer.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 09/02/2014 15:54

The older Harrison I know comes from the least 'chavvy' family I could think of. Certainly not the case here. (Berkshire)

grabaspoon · 09/02/2014 15:55

Not a fan most Harrys/Harrisons I know have a reputation as being naughty/a handful - and I know a lot of them

jazzcat28 · 09/02/2014 15:57

Which area are you in middleaged?

Not a fan sorry Harry nicer

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 09/02/2014 16:05

North Wilts

Rooners · 09/02/2014 16:06

I like it for Harrison Ford but when I hear it here in the UK I tend to think it's a bit, well, a bit out of place?

Also there is a nice young man called it at our local shop and every time I see his name badge it makes me think of hedgehogs.

Sorry Blush

as in 'herisson'

jazzcat28 · 09/02/2014 16:08

Hmm it's actually DHs favoured name from our short list. I am pretty traditional in my tastes and love Thomas. Other name which we both kind of like is Leo.

ELCS next week so need to decide!

Love love love it.

Would have been used for Dd1 and dd2

I'm in scotland and don't know any Harrisons and very few Harrys...

bzoo · 09/02/2014 16:12

I have one. We aren't chavvy Hmm

Sammie101 · 09/02/2014 16:15

Love it! My godson is called Harrison (although does get Harry most of the time) and he is the most beautiful, cheeky little boy in the world! And I don't see it as chavvy at all Smile

bzoo · 09/02/2014 16:15

We spell it Harison though. Smile

Innogen · 09/02/2014 16:16

I know one who graduated from a top university, having boarded, and is now a professional rugby union player.

Pretty much the opposite of chav.

Leeds2 · 09/02/2014 16:25

Prefer Harry.

DownstairsMixUp · 09/02/2014 16:28

It's seen as a "chavvy" name to a few people i know round here to Confused (kent) I like the name! My friend has one, they are not the slighest bit chavvy.

Rooners · 09/02/2014 16:30

I think it is seen as chavvy because of the aspirational thing - you know, limited cultural knowledge, named after a very popular actor, sort of thing.

Does it have a meaning?

jazzcat28 · 09/02/2014 16:32

No meaning or significance but just a name DH loves.

Soooo boring, probably the most over used 'trend' name for boys in the last decade. Leo on the other hand is wonderful.

clary · 09/02/2014 16:44

All the Harrisons I know (quite a few - I teach secondary) are known as Harry.

There are a lot of Harrys. One in most classes I teach. Only beaten by Josh. Both lovely names tho.

granof3 · 09/02/2014 16:58

Not all Harrisons are that young. My hubby inherited this name from his grandfather. If I had a son I would have carried on the tradition.

bzoo · 09/02/2014 17:19

I haven't come across another Harison at all!

FlirtingFail · 09/02/2014 17:24

I have only met one - he is one of the nicest boys I know. And comes from a very arty boho family.

JuniperHeartwand · 09/02/2014 17:32

I'm in London and the only baby Harrison I know is in a rich family who care about school catchment areas before their baby was even born.
