I like it, have come across a few, not chavvy IMO,

NadiaWadia · 10/02/2014 04:33

It is not a first name (or shouldn't be). It is a surname meaning 'Harry's son'.

Why not just go for Harry? (which is nice)

Marnieshere · 10/02/2014 05:57

Love it, I really like the nn Harry.

RoadToTuapeka · 10/02/2014 06:45

I really don't like it, I would hate to have it as a name if I were male. Like Jackson to me it seems to be a name that's not a name, watered down horribly by the 'son' at the end. Harry much better name.

Your alternative names...Leo is lovely and I would like Thomas if I didn't have to read blooming Thomas train books ad naseum! I like Tom.

florascotia · 10/02/2014 09:07

May not be relevant, but 'Harris' is an increasingly-popular name in some places (parts of Scotland, for example).

Leo and Thomas both very nice. Harrison better as a middle name, maybe? Goes very well after both Thomas and Leo.

GlitzAndGiggles · 10/02/2014 09:11

I used to know a Harrison I quite like it. He was a happy little fella

MrsOakenshield · 10/02/2014 09:12

love it.

But DD has a name which is always panned on MN as boring, predictable and common (thank God I didn't know about MN when we chose her name!).

TallRedhead · 10/02/2014 09:19

Love it and it's on my short list. (I'm 38weeks)
But I don't think I'll use it as it will be shortened to Harry so may as well go with Harry. It's a strong name but I suppose once they grow up they will decide how to introduce themselves!

Names!! So tricky but once they are named they 'become' their name and the worry about getting it wrong just disappears!!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/02/2014 10:28

I love it and it was mine and DH's first name choice for a very long time - our son is due in 6 weeks.

However, we are now planning on calling the baby, Arran and we are considering using Harrison as one of his middle names instead.

Rosieliveson · 10/02/2014 10:36

I know two Harrisons. One 8, one 18 months. Oldest is Harry, youngest isn't shortened.

I like it Grin

Theonlyoneiknow · 10/02/2014 12:52

I really like it. DD would have been Harris (I think it's about no.17 in popularity in Scotland).

All the boys I know called Harrison are lovely

pinkgirlythoughts · 10/02/2014 19:59

I teach primary, and know lots of Harrisons- never ever shortened, oddly enough, as I would expect people to shorten it to Harry.

It's not my cup of tea personally, but I don't dislike it.

Monmouth · 10/02/2014 21:20

Sorry but I really don't like it.

Harry is fine, Harrison is a surname.

It's a surname & chavvy.

Ictoanntu · 10/02/2014 22:11

Love it. I used to work with a really nice man called Harrison. He'd be in his 60s now. Shortened to H.

Onesleeptillwembley · 10/02/2014 22:14

Very downmarket here in Yorkshire.

jazzcat28 · 12/02/2014 20:48

Thanks for all your thoughts. Baby arrived on Tuesday and surprised us all by being a pink one!
