I like the name Boe/Boden for a boy. I am aware via MN of the shop Boden although have never been in or seen it in RL.

How popular is this shop? Is it the first thing you think of upon hearing this name? I am late 20's and only know of this place from this site, is it for older women? I know none of my friends shop there but just trying to work out if this is something everyone else will associate the name with.

I also like Toby and Auden (although DH doesn't like Auden) so any suggestions along these lines would be appreciated! And any other names with Boe (not Beau) as a nickname.

Thanks for reading!

Yes it's a major retailer with high brand awareness (no actual shops - all catalogue/online) or a surname.

I've never seen it as a first name and don't take to it (and remembering the Beauden thread, I don't like that either)

Beau is OK

Most people I know use Boden for baby/ children's clothes so it's pretty much linked to kids Smile

It's an online presence so its not just linked to stores. I know people in the US, UK, Ireland, Europe etc who buy from the site.

ToffeeJungle · 15/01/2014 17:59

Yes first thought was the online kids clothes shop.
Though I do know someone who has a 4 year old Boden (who is super cute!).

Im not keen on it as a name personally and don't like Auden. Toby is good though, love Tobias!

I prefer Brodie or Blair

EducatingNora · 15/01/2014 18:02

Everyone you meet will think you named your dc after the shop. Really.

SolomanDaisy · 15/01/2014 18:04

I heard of it as a name for the first time this week. As the name of a man in court for setting fire to a ferry. Only ever heard it as the name of the shop before that.

exexpat · 15/01/2014 18:21

I think the majority of British people would hear Boden and think of the catalogue company. It is also the German word for ground or floor. Avoid.

pictish · 15/01/2014 18:23

It's a no imo I'm afraid.
It would be like calling your child Bugaboo.

florascotia · 15/01/2014 18:34

And it's the name of a small town in Germany.

HRHQueenMe · 15/01/2014 19:17

And the name of a Swedish City!

newyearhere · 15/01/2014 19:20

Go with Tobias, nickname Toby. It's a nice classic name but not over-popular.

Bluestocking · 15/01/2014 19:21

It's all go on Baby Names this evening.
Boden is a no-no, people really will think you've named the poor little blighter after the clothing brand. La Redoute for a girl might be rather lovely though.

Ilovekittyelise · 15/01/2014 19:54

and if you hadnt heard of the popular yummy mummy online retailer, theres also the slightly more obscure yet popular maker of nice quality cafetieres and teapots.

TheLostPelvicFloorOfPoosh · 15/01/2014 20:16

How about John Lewis instead?

Fantail · 15/01/2014 20:36

There is a player in the NZ rugby team called Beauden.

Only1scoop · 15/01/2014 20:39

How about 'little Joule' instead Wink

Leeds2 · 15/01/2014 20:51

Just don't.

Beau would be better, although I don't really like that.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 15/01/2014 22:37

Don't do it

Fairylea · 15/01/2014 22:38

Nooooo. Instantly thought of the shop! Sorry!

willyoulistentome · 15/01/2014 22:40

Everyone i know would think you named your son after a catalogue.

Pinkandwhite · 15/01/2014 22:40

I also immediately thought of the shop - sorry.

maillotjaune · 15/01/2014 22:53

He can be MiniBoden for a few years. Just make sure he wears lots of applique T shirts.
Don'tdoit

squoosh · 15/01/2014 22:58

I've heard of kids being called Ikea.

Boden is on a par with that.

Jolay100 · 16/01/2014 10:07

My first thought was the shop I'm afraid, although unlike everyone else I do think it would be a nice name too.
I think Bo can also be short for Robert..... Suspect that would be quite unique these days.

Vixxxen · 16/01/2014 10:14

I prefer Gap Grin
