Flower type name suggestions with a twist

I would love to name future DD a flower name, BUT our surname is something you actually do with flowers so names like Rose, Violet etc do not work.

Any suggestions of names? Can be in languages other than English.

I wondered about Fleur or Flora...

Your surname has me so intrigued but I think most flower names should be avoided directly anyway (I know a couple who have given all 3 DD flower middle names) as they are so overdone to be honest unless you find something less popular. I love the name Fleur and I think Eden is nice too. Edie for short?

What about welsh versions of flowers? Eirlys (pronounced air - liss) means snowdrop. Rhoswen ( ross - when) Ffion ( fee - on) means foxglove. Celyn ( kell - in) means holly. Or there's even my dear old nana's name Blodwen which means little white flower.

CatsAreLikeChocolates · 20/01/2014 14:51

Damn, I left out that Rhoswen means white rose. Must preview posts!

More Celtic names:

Darina, Deri = oak tree

Eithne, Edana = nut kernel

Linet = little lake

Roisin (Rosheen), Rozenn = little rose

Also just (perhaps) Francesca, Fransiska etc, because of St Francis and his love of nature?

DolomitesDonkey · 20/01/2014 15:32

Myrtille (murr-tee) - not sure it'd work as myrtille ash mind!
