Fiona, Sophie, or Tess?

Love all three, and they all work well with our (very unusual and often misspelt) surname.

39 weeks yesterday and we still can't decide... probably going to wait till she arrives and see what she looks like Grin

Please don't say 'there are too many Sophies' as I have a huge circle of children in my life through friends/family/church etc and NOT ONE of them is named Sophie.

Tess.

Love it!

It's a strong, non-frilly and fairly unusual name.

The best one by a mile!

Wishfulmakeupping · 20/12/2013 20:46

Really like Tess

Fifibluebell · 20/12/2013 21:10

Fiona!! Wink

Mattissy · 20/12/2013 21:22

One of my bezzies growing up was Fiona, never Fi though. You could use Fizz like her off Corrie.

Love Tess, know loads of Sophie's.

Tess
Fiona
Sophie

ScoobertDoo · 20/12/2013 23:24

Fiona!

NadiaWadia · 21/12/2013 00:05

Sophie is lovely.
Tess is too, but not a complete name (should be Tessa or preferably Teresa/Theresa)

Fiona is OK, not bad. But I have a close relative called this, and she is not that keen herself.

Mrsindecision · 21/12/2013 00:14

I like Sophie the best - it's timeless, feminine and suits all ages. Fiona seems dated to me (late 60s/early 70s) and I'm not personally keen on Tess (or Teresa/Tessa).

BrianTheMole · 21/12/2013 00:17

Tess.

bzoo · 21/12/2013 00:21

I am a Fiona named in the early 80s

CiderwithBuda · 21/12/2013 00:21

Fiona of course

Actually even though it's obv a fab name I wouldn't use it at the moment. Because of Shrek.

There are lots of Sophies for a reason - it's pretty and classic.

I like Tess but it feels unfinished.

sparklysilversequins · 21/12/2013 00:21

Tess.

CiderwithBuda · 21/12/2013 00:22

Mid 60s Fiona here by the way.

GW297 · 21/12/2013 00:38

Sophie

Swanlike · 21/12/2013 00:53

I'm a 70's Fiona and am often shortened to Fi or even fifi. I like my name and my nicknames as it's nice and short and easy to spell, not very common but not unusual either ( never met another one until I was at Uni ) and not too girly. I like Tess too though and Sophie.

I'd probably go:

Sophie
Fiona
Tess

SaltyGoodness · 21/12/2013 02:18

Thank you for all the replies! I STILL don't know which way we'll go, so it's really helpful to know your associations with each name.

Tally is now:

Tess 16
Fiona 13
Sophie 8

Decisions, decisions.... Smile

Sophie is overdone and sounds too wet.
I love Fiona.
Tess is also a bit too blah.

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 21/12/2013 12:44

Tess gets my vote, but I'm obviously biased, as it's my name.

I've spent 33 happy years with the name and I'm grateful to my parents for choosing it.

Sophie is nice but I'm bored of it.

Fiona makes me think of Shrek.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/12/2013 12:50

Fiona

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/12/2013 14:59

Sophie.

Fiona is nice but Ffion is much nicer.

Tess is dull, in my opinion. Though I am sure women called Tess are not dull at all!

Bonsoir · 21/12/2013 15:01

I think Tess is beautiful. Sophie is pretty but ubiquitous. Not super keen on Fiona.

scripsi · 21/12/2013 15:03

Tess is really beautiful

MyNameIsWinkly · 21/12/2013 15:08

I know a 29 year old Fiona who is the best person in the world so I am wildly biased, but I think its a lovely name.

BunnyLebowski · 21/12/2013 15:08

Hate Tess. Tess = Ten Tonne Tessie. If your child turns out to be not dainty it would be an invitation for bullies.

Fiona is awful. Straight from the 80's.

Sophie is the best but is rather dull.

Any other contenders?

notoneforselfies · 21/12/2013 15:10

Tess

Timetoask · 21/12/2013 15:18

Don't like Fiona.
Sophie is okay but a bit overused now.
Tess is my favourite. Sounds like a fun, friendly person.
