I have become aware that I choose marmite names so interested to hear what you think of our current short list!

Monty
Rupert
Clement
Hector

I've had opinions on some before but we are still really up in the air.

Go on, let me have it!

They are all awful.

Vijac · 15/11/2013 23:28

Monty best then Rupert (though for some reason I always want to sat woopert in a lame voice). Clement is awful, so can't say why. Hector is also don't like but can't really say why, maybe it could grow on my. Perhaps it's just not that melodic, a bit harsh. Tbh though people will get used to any of those names.

DitsyDonkey · 15/11/2013 23:40

Monty Monty Monty.......I really like Monty Blush

CooEeeEldridge · 15/11/2013 23:44

Rupert the best! The rest are horse names! However, if you have lots of cash and plan to privately educate the kid-all are fine.

Pachacuti · 15/11/2013 23:50

I like Hector, and Clement is interesting and unexpected. Monty seems over-used now, and there's nothing wrong with Rupert but I personally find it hard to warm to as a name.

KateCroydon · 16/11/2013 08:28

Clement! Great meaning, Attlee was a dude and Clem's a nice NN. What's not to love?

Thants · 16/11/2013 08:41

I like Rupert a bit. The others are horrible! Clement!

gemmal88 · 16/11/2013 09:24

Sorry, none of them are really my cup of tea!

Karbea · 16/11/2013 09:32

I like them, not sure about Clement, but like Clem.

Bowlersarm · 16/11/2013 09:40

Rupert.

Really love Rupert.

Not keen on the others.

lljkk · 16/11/2013 09:42

Rupert is almost tolerable. Monty is a pet. Clem is a hillbilly. Hector is distant uncle in the Adams Family.
Here are my marmite names (I like, others hate): Alfred (Freddy), Edgar, Raymond.

Mumpiring · 16/11/2013 09:58

All a bit odd but at least monty and hector will have company as thwy're more used.

lljkk · 16/11/2013 10:16

Only one I vaguely know IRL is a 10yo Rupert. And then there's Rupert Grint. The others not at all. How many babies born today will ever hear of Clement Freud?

Leeds2 · 16/11/2013 10:51

Don't like any of them.

My least favourite is Rupert.

RobinVanPrissy · 16/11/2013 11:08

I like Hector. Its quirky and bit Spanish sounding.

Monty is unbelievably twee.
Rupert and Clement, I'm afraid I hate.

okthen · 16/11/2013 11:11

Hector is the best- it's a great name in some ways- strong etc. But I can't get away from the association with the verb 'to hector'

Not keen on others unless child is going to grow up in vehhhh, vehhhh posh surroundings!

Rupert? Seriously? Sorry don't like any of your choices but if I absolutely had to choose one it would be Monty.

somewhereinessex · 16/11/2013 13:07

Good names for dogs not boys.

scarletforya · 16/11/2013 13:07

They are all awful and drippy. Except Clement, which is alright.

Very unmasculine set of names.

scarletforya · 16/11/2013 13:09

Rupert is the worst, it's more or less a joke name.

TidyDancer · 16/11/2013 14:44

They are actually all 'no way, never, over my dead body' type names for me, but Rupert is by far the best of a bad bunch. Monty in particular is very try hard.

Bearandcub · 16/11/2013 14:51

Hector
Clement
Monty
Rupert

Matchthecase · 16/11/2013 15:49

RobinVanPrissy Spanish doesn't pn the H so it would be pn 'Eck-tor' I'm not sure which is worse tbh lol
