Could I ask you for thoughts on these names? I've deliberately put the dashes in to avoid popping up on searches! Sorry, I know it looks weird!

We've gone back and forth and back again in these names. We love and find fault with them in equal measure!

Like them all, Claudia was on our short list so that is my favourite, followed by Erin, then Martha, then Clara

ChaosTrulyReigns · 09/11/2013 23:43

They are all equally lovely.

That's probably exceedingly unhelpful.

meditrina · 09/11/2013 23:45

I prefer Martha (despite not likening the Biblical character). I just don't take tomErin, and the dual pronunciations of Clara and Claudia would drive me bats.

Lighthousekeeping · 09/11/2013 23:47

Erin is popular but lovely. Martha is my favourite name ever. I do have a good friend Claudia which is fab also. Sorry not helpful!

TheDoctrineOfWho · 09/11/2013 23:48

I like all of them, buit you are looking for decisiveness so - Claudia.

lottiegarbanzo · 09/11/2013 23:52

I'd choose Clara. Lovely, easy to pronounce (surely no-one says Clare-a?).

Claudia is nice but the less common Cloud-ia pr. could cause minor confusion. Martha is nice.

Erin is nice in it's place, I think, which is mostly North America, referencing ancestral Irish links. If your referring to Eire great but as 'just another name' I think it's a bit nondescript.

Hiphopopotamus · 09/11/2013 23:53

Love Erin, Not a massive fan of the others.

meditrina · 09/11/2013 23:56

Nothing strange about Clare going to Clara and it's not an unusual a pronunciation. It's always a snare to think 'because I do something, then everyone will'

What I was thinking was 'because I've only ever heard one pronunciation of Clara, in person, on radio, in TV and film, in 40 years, the other one is probably quite uncommon'.

Perhaps as it's quite an uncommon name anyway, it's not widely heard enough for anyone to have encountered a statistically significant sample. (Now awaiting the person who has and has done the research and published the book...)

Being fairly uncommon but easy to recognise, spell and perhaps even pronounce is probably in it's favour though. Erin and Martha are definitely more fashionable at the moment (where I live and IME that is, of course).

RiaOverTheRainbow · 10/11/2013 00:23

I like them all. Erin's my favourite, though it's quite popular now, if that bothers you.

Sunnysummer · 10/11/2013 00:44

I love Clara and Claudia, classic and classy (so many cs!)

The others are lovely too, but Martha is less elegant and pretty and Erin is quite trendy where we are and maybe more likely to date.

HoneyandRum · 10/11/2013 07:00

Claudia although I prefer the pronounciation Cloud-ia as I am in Germany and that's how I hear the name (in Italy too) but that may be very poncey in the UK.

AntoinetteCosway · 10/11/2013 07:10

They're all lovely. Sorry!

Longdistance · 10/11/2013 07:10

I know a Clara Martha Grin

bloodyhatefireworks · 10/11/2013 07:15
  1. Clara - beautiful
  2. Erin - chic

Don't like Martha or Claudia

SatinSandals · 10/11/2013 07:21

Martha best, then Clara.

JumpingJackSprat · 10/11/2013 07:31

Claudia. .. But then I always say that as is my favourite girls name :D then Clara, then Martha. I don't like Erin as in my weird head I read it as "Grin".

MrsBungleScare · 10/11/2013 07:35

I don't much like Martha - it's alright. I really like the others. Especially Clara.

RussTDaviesBear · 10/11/2013 07:55

I like them all, but especially Claudia, if you don't mind the different pronunciations.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 10/11/2013 08:17

Dd1's middle name is Clara, pronounced Clair-a, it was her great grandmother's name so it must be quite common to pronounce it this was. Anyway, I love it!

TheNunsOfGavarone · 10/11/2013 08:47

I like them all very much indeed except Erin.

LottieGarbanzo I always pronounce it Clare-a as did my great aunt whose name it was!

Noggie · 10/11/2013 08:52

I have a martha Grin
