If I told you my baby son's new name what would you reeeally think?

Dp is trying to sell me his name choice and I reeeeally don't know. At the beginning I said no way in hell, but have to admit it is growing on me. It's Gustav. What do u think? We are Scandinavian origin so there is a link.
I just think people would laugh. But dp really loves it! I'm only 22 weeks pg so bit of time to decide. And it may be a girl! Just wondering what opinions are on the name...

Very nice. It's my ds's middle name9smile0 although a different spelling to reflect a flemish heritage.

Gus is quite a common nn here in Scotland (from Angus) so it would be shortened pretty soon.

First thought was Breaking Bad, but that's probably just me. If you're Scandinavian I think it's nice. Gus is a cool nickname too.

I'm not keen but it's a name I haven't heard except in books. But if you like it then you should go for it.

If you didn't have Scandinavian links, I'd think it was a tiny bit pretentious (but maybe still OK), but as it is, I think it's very cool - easy to pronounce, acceptable nick-name available (Gus), there definitely won't be five of them in his primary class...

I like it. I's not a common name in the UK but no one is going to do a double take and say WTF as I'd say most people have heard of it in a forrin sort of way Wink

I like it, and with the Scandinavian link it makes sense (personally, I'm not keen on 'foreign' names where there's no link). And Gus is a good NN if you want one.
