Well you asked for honest opinions so I'm going to answer truthfully and say your girls names are dreadful. The names James and Oliver are both ok.

TombOfMummyBeerest · 25/10/2013 21:04

I like the boys names.

I actually wouldn't mind Sailor if it was spelled this way.

I only know a dog named Paisley.

ExitPursuedByABogieMan · 25/10/2013 21:06

Are we in a parallel universe ?

TheFuckersonInquiry · 25/10/2013 21:15

Paisley - nope
Saylor - nope but Sailor is ok'ish but on its own and not with Rose
Mae as a middle name - No never!
Heath - yes
Landon - ok
Heath Landon - Ok
Oliver - Ok but really common
James as a middle name - ok

littlegem12 · 25/10/2013 21:16

Heath (love it)
Saylor (would prefer with different spelling but i like the sound of it)
Oliver (zzzzz)
James (zzzzz)
Landon (really nice)
I think a nice name can stand alone without middle names.

funnyflowersky · 25/10/2013 21:39

I really dislike them all, especially the girls names. I hate the -May/Mae -Rose.

What are other names you like?

Karbea · 25/10/2013 21:44

Oliver James is the only one I like, sorry.

SatinSandals · 25/10/2013 21:50

Oliver James, really dislike the rest.

CommanderShepard · 25/10/2013 22:04

They're... not for me. Saylor/Sayla will get misspelt all the time - fine if you don't mind correcting constantly but it's something to consider.

I like Oliver and James but not together. Oliver Heath? James Heath? Heath James? Heath Oliver?

CommanderShepard · 25/10/2013 22:05

Sela is pronounced Saylor, I think.

Thumbfuckerwitch · 26/10/2013 01:32

I think I have become inured to Heath, living in Australia.Halloween Grin

I think that the OP might not be in the UK, or might not be from the UK - the names she has chosen do sound as though she's either Antipodean or American or wants to be.

breerose · 26/10/2013 08:43

thank you everyone for your honest opinion, i am in Australia by the way, other names that we are considering are:

Girl:
Harlow, Lexi, Mackenzie, Lux, Emason, Sienna, Amarli

Boy:
Fletcher, Rory, Hudson, Finn, Jonah,Alfie

what do you all think?

OP posts:
ReturnPlacenta · 26/10/2013 09:30

I like Lux. I'm afraid I don't like the other girls names. How do you pronounce Emason?

Boys-wise, I like Finn but it's v popular here (not sure about Australia).

breerose · 26/10/2013 09:42

it is pronounced ( Em-a-son)

OP posts:
GwendolineMaryLacey · 26/10/2013 09:43

Rory. Lovely name. The rest are awful.

Bunbaker · 26/10/2013 09:44

Harlow is a town in Essex or is a botanical Garden near Harrogate - Harlow Carr. Emason sounds like a virtual/electronic mason - generally a commonly used word with an e in front of it tends to mean electronic as in ecommerce etc. I'm not keen on surname names so that would rule out Mackenzie.

These are merely my personal opinions though so feel free to ignore me.

TheNunsOfGavarone · 26/10/2013 09:44

I don't like any of the girls' names apart from Sienna, which is pretty.

Harlow just makes me think of Margot Asquith's cutting response to Jean Harlow's mispronunciation of her name: "the T is silent as in Harlow". And a town in Essex.

Lux is soap here in the UK.

Of your boys' names I like Fletcher, Finn and Jonah best.

Thumbfuckerwitch · 26/10/2013 09:48

Harlow - absolutely NOT! Too close to harlot, sorry (another word for slut/prostitute, not sure if it's in use over here)
Lux = soap
Lexi - like this
Sienna - fine
Amarli - not really sure
Have you considered Milan? Friends of my DH have a little girl called Milan, and if you're going to consider one Italian city, you might as well consider another! Grin
Emason - no
Mackenzie - other friends of mine have been thinking of this for a girl - or rather the dad has, the mum has absolutely vetoed it.

All those boys' names are fine and actually quite tame for here. :)

Onesleeptillwembley · 26/10/2013 09:50

The other girls names are still truly awful. Maybe they won't seem as bad in Australia but somehow I doubt it. The bits names are bad but still nowhere near as bad as the girls.

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/10/2013 09:59

I know an Emerson but it's a boys name (after a famous Brazilian teaching driver apparently). Fletcher is a bit close to Felcher Shock I
Oliver James is beyond boring.

I like Finn (quite popular in the uk though).
Heath is nice
Lexi or Sienna are about the best of the girls names IMO

TheFuckersonInquiry · 26/10/2013 10:04

Harlow, no, no, no no no no, did it mention NO Grin
Lexi, No no no
Mackenzie, ok but not my favourite.
Lux, Sounds like Soap, no
Emason, Maybe but why this sp? Would Emerson be better?
Sienna, Yes
Amarli No

Boy:
Fletcher, Yes
Rory, Yes

Hudson, Maybe
Finn, Yes but v. Popular
Jonah, Yes
Alfie. Yes but a bit twee and v popular

Onesleeptillwembley · 26/10/2013 10:40

Tilly I know someone with the surname Fletcher. Funnily enough they have been nicknamed Felcher on occasion. Grin
Please, OP, let someone else name your child.

Thumbfuckerwitch · 26/10/2013 10:56

Honestly though, these aren't actually that way out for Australia, I promise.
I know of a baby who has just been named Briellen - I had to ask how that was pronounced.

BonzaBlue · 26/10/2013 11:07

Yes I had dd here in Australia and was told her name is very old fashioned.

Now I know OP is here Sailor makes sense, didn't a news / weatherman call his dd Sailor?

Just don't call your son Luke or Greg loads around me and they are m ds and Dh's names !

usualsuspect · 26/10/2013 11:10

'Let someone else name your child'

How rude you are.

I like Lexi and Finn from your list.
