Dutch girls' names

Only 8 wks pg so getting ahead of myself, but DD1 has a lovely traditional Dutch name (won't disclose as will out me!). I'd quite like something along the same lines if DC2 is a girl.

So please give me your favourite Dutch girls' names! Ideally that work in English so eg not something like Loes (loose??!) or Sjoukje (sp/pn nightmare).

TIA

Fleur is very popular for babies born my youngest sons year. He was born in Holland. I think it's very sweet. If my son was to be a girl we liked Hanne ( pronounced Hanee according to my MIL who had a Dutch friend with same name ) which I loved

Lia has been added to the list. Also really like Fleur but unfortunately another close friend is called that (my friends have nice names apparently Confused).

I love Inge but English pr issues would probably do my head in.

Dunno about traditional; I have lots of Dutch female work partners with names: Andrea, Jorien, Annemiek, Anne, Janine.

One of my Dutch ancestors had the name Maria Wilhelmina Catharina :)

Other names in the family were :
Hendrika (known as Hettie)
Johanna
Sophie Anna
Jenne
Hendrina
Aleida
Berta
Jannigje (sometimes Fennigen)
Gesina (Gese)
Gerridina
Aaltje
Berendina
Margrieta

Spellings varied hugely around those as well.

Hmm, I do like a lot of these 'ke' ending names but wonder how well they'd work in English.

Had our scan today so pg beginning to seem more real! Still 30 weeks or so to agonise over names though Grin

People may not pronounce them right if they only see them on paper, but there won't be any problem once they hear them spoken. Dineke for instance to rhyme with spinnaker. Although I knew a Dineke and no one ever had any trouble remembering how to say her name.

my al time favourite is marjoleine, but we decided it really was too hard to do in English, and short version may be Lisa (don't like) or Mario!

Our family names are:

Maria - Ria for short
Lusanne - can use Lucy in UK
Jozina
Miriam - can use Mirjam
Jesca
Danique

Nothing with a Dutch G though, we Brits make pathetic fools of ourselves trying to say that, even those of us ?ho really try!

Check online Dutch papers for scanning names.

A lot of old-fashioned names here.....

Juliana for instance is the present king's granny.

Oh, only thought Meisje because there was a girl at ds's former primary school with that name. Thought it must be a general Dutch female name....

Have added Dineke and Anouk, and Jolien which is not on this thread but has just occurred to me.

Waves at blackberry - as you can see I am getting rather ahead of myself!
