Dutch girls' names

Only 8 wks pg so getting ahead of myself, but DD1 has a lovely traditional Dutch name (won't disclose as will out me!). I'd quite like something along the same lines if DC2 is a girl.

So please give me your favourite Dutch girls' names! Ideally that work in English so eg not something like Loes (loose??!) or Sjoukje (sp/pn nightmare).

TIA

I love, love Saskia. When I was at school there was the most beautiful girl with that name. She had dark blonde hair and peachy skin and the most wonderful, graceful, posture.

Wildwaterfalls · 19/09/2013 09:14

Can't have Saskia unfortunately as I have a good friend called that.

Have been pondering Vivian but looking for more ideas.

Isa is quite pretty, I think, but reminds me of a savings account. I would have no idea how to pronounce Sanne.

Lottie?

NooMyx · 19/09/2013 10:44

Vivian is nice.

Drika, Else/Elise, Ida, Johanna, Louisa, Marike, Paulien, Thera?
I used to know a lovely Dutch lady called Karin.

I think Sanne would be fine, unless you'd be very bothered about some mispronounciations. (I'm assuming it's pronounced San-neh?)

Wildwaterfalls · 19/09/2013 10:49

Oh good list Noo. A couple I love but DH has vetoed (Johanna, Marieke). Elise is lovely but too close to DD1's name. And we have a Karin in the family already. Really love all those names though.

Yes, Sanne is San-neh. Glad you like Vivian Smile

Anneke?

I like Sanne too. I know a couple of (Scandinavian) Sannas. There may be a problem with pronounciation for the names with an 'e' on the end - the English won't automatically say the 'eh' sound, I reckon. Depends how much psychic pain it would cause you!
