DP is of Indian descent, born and bred in London and goes by an English nickname.
We don't know the gender of the baby but he thinks it's going to be a boy Hmm anyway there are plenty of nice sounding/meaning girl's names but I don't like ANY of the boy names he's suggested... I.e. Raj, Lakshmann...
This is second baby (first dd with Caucasian partner and has an 'english' name).
also want a name where people don't say "sorry, what?!" when we say his/her name...
Please help!! Confused

Agree Rohan lovely.

Assume Hindu not Muslim? Lots of lovely Muslim names too, including Adam.

As well as the two you've already said are front runners I must second the poster who suggested Rohan.

I think all three are lovely.

Late to the party, but, George and Olivia Harrison's son is Dhani (meaning 'rich') - l really like it.

Ham69 · 15/09/2013 21:27

I worked with a very hot charming Indian bloke called Ravi a few years back. Loved the name ever since.

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/09/2013 21:32

I think Rohan was a name first op. Much like Pandora.

onetiredmummy · 15/09/2013 21:33

There's a boy in ds1's class whose name spans 2 heritages, he's called Sami

SpottedDickandCustard · 15/09/2013 21:34

Zain?

iloveweetos · 15/09/2013 21:46

Bobby, Kieran, Jai/Jay, Aaron (not Indian descent but can be used), Ajay, Taj, Rohan, Rishi, Arjun.
You could use any English name nowadays. Me and dp are both Indian but plan to name all children with kind of mutual names. Easier to do with girls tho!!

MrsOakenshield · 15/09/2013 21:47

Rohan makes me think of Lord of the Rings!

deste · 15/09/2013 22:22

I know an Indian mum and Irish dad and boys name is Kiran. I saw it mentioned above. Pronounced the same as Kieron except with an a instead of an o.
