I love dhs name - would've used it for our child if it weren't his name.

Do you like yours?

I love DH's name and have always wanted to call a DS of mine by its French version, long before I even met him. So if this DC3 turns out to be a boy, I know what one of the mn will be!

Bue · 12/09/2013 10:25

Yes I love it. It's Edward.

cupcakeicing · 12/09/2013 10:33

DH's first name is a surname (his mother's maiden name). Our surname is now a very popular first name so his name gets turned around on official docs, hospital appts etc. Happens with DS now too though different first name to DH.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 12/09/2013 17:48

Yes. It's a really nice name, and I often suggest it on here.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 12/09/2013 17:50

I also only like the full name, though

LazyMonkeyButler · 12/09/2013 17:53

God no! I hate it, DH hates it, there is no way we would have saddled either DS with it.

God knows what (normally very sensible) MIL & FIL were thinking.

Seaweedy · 14/09/2013 13:54

Yes, I do like it, and I've often felt lucky as his four siblings have either awful names or names so common for their generation that they might as well have been called 'Boy' or 'Girl'.

elQuintoConyo · 14/09/2013 14:15

I like DH's name, but it's three syllables and a bit of a mouthful to moan during sex Blush

He has three brothers and has the best name by miles!

His surname, on the other hand: yea gads, glad we got married in Spain so it's automatic that you don't change. Poor DS has dhsyrname-mysurname and it's a bit of a foreign nightmare (dh has a German surname, mine's Irish) Grin

TheStitchWitch · 14/09/2013 14:23

My DH's name is Jason, always Jase though, I love it, so much that DS has it as his middle name. Grin

proudmummyvlogger · 14/09/2013 14:25

I'm not sure...two Joe's would be way too much for me to handle lol

marzipanned · 14/09/2013 15:15

I love it, and would've happily used it for a child except I don't like the practice of naming kids after parents.

kiwik · 14/09/2013 15:22

DHs given name is James, but he is known by his middle name. All first born sons in his family are James and then use the middle name. No idea why, and I stopped the tradition with DS1 by calling him something else entirely.

hawkmcqueen · 14/09/2013 15:58

No, it's like wallpaper. Never imagined marrying a Dave :-)

alexpolismum · 14/09/2013 18:48

I lovemy dh's name. It's Paschalis, the Greek version of Pascal. It really suits him. If it weren't their father's name, I might have considered it for my sons.

sausageandorangepickle · 14/09/2013 21:49

No, it's awful and was popular at least 10 years before DH was born - people are always expecting to meet someone older if they hear the long version before they meet him. He has always used a nickname that can also be short for another bad name, so sometimes get the long version of that too!!

His middle name is much better but long, and we wanted short names for our DS's so it never made the shortlist.

We do have a nephew on each side with DH's middle name as a first name though!

MrsMongoose · 15/09/2013 01:37

No, not at all. It's Gilbert.

GrandstandingBlueTit · 15/09/2013 01:47

Yes, I like it.

Both mine and DH's names are currently popular. It's nice not having boring, dated 70s names.

TobyLerone · 15/09/2013 08:00

Yes, I love it. But I wouldn't use it for our child unless it wasn't his name.

TobyLerone · 15/09/2013 08:00

It's Liam, btw.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 15/09/2013 19:24

I love it.

Its very unusual, and suits him completely.

I wish my name were less common and more...well...me.

SubliminalMassaging · 15/09/2013 19:32

My Dh's name is very unusual and I had never met another before him. In fact most people have never met one! He's fifty. I always used to hate it but I have obviously got used to it now, and I call him my own NN version of it, anyway. It's a name that seems to be quite hip and trendy and aspirational at the moment if the MN baby name threads are anything to go by, but it's not a name I would ever have chosen. Gawd knows where his parents dragged it up from because his siblings have names that are very run of the mill and typical of their age. Confused

TheRunawayTrain · 15/09/2013 22:17

I love it. He's called Jesus. He is also an atheist Hmm Grin I also love the hay-zus pronounciation, it sounds all handsome. We wouldn't use it for our children though, although we would consider Joshua.

Inkspellme · 15/09/2013 22:53

I like his name but think it doesn't suit him. We're Irish and he's very Irish looking - red haired, fair skin and brown eyes. He has a french name however. His two brothers have lovely Irish names and don't have the same colouring. In fact one is black haired, sallow skin and dark eyed. I always feel all the names are nice but they're not matched to the right person.

ToffeeCaramel · 16/09/2013 00:33

Yes I do and I'm so glad he doesn't have his brother's name!
