DC2 is due at the beginning of December.

If it's a girl she will probably be Mary Harriet, if it's a boy we are currently stuck !

We already have a Poppy Arabella and absolutely love Arthur but it sounds stupid with our surname.

I am trying to persuade DH on Walter but he is wavering to and from it.

I like Ted as a nn but Edward is just okay.

My grandad is Horace! But everyone calls him Ken Grin

DH's grandad is Douglas.

ZingWantsCake · 07/09/2013 08:16

DH's Grandads were Douglad and Gordon - both English
mine Janos (John) and Laszlo (Leslie?) - both Hungarian

out of the hundreds of kids we know only one is called John (he is 14).

Next doors little boy is called Wilbur which I think is very cute.

Algernon..
I know an Algy and he's cool
Plus, iPad corrects Algernon to Lager on. Sounds fine!

My Grampa was Sydney Horatio (born exactly 100 years after the Battle of Trafalgar) and my other one who died years before I was born was David Henry.

Betty3boys · 07/09/2013 13:42

I love older generation names!
We have three boys all named after our grandparents; eldest middle name is Arthur.
Second son's first name is Alfred (Gets called Alfie, Fred and Ted)
Our youngest is Sidney (Sid)
Currently expecting number four and if it's another boy he will be Stanley after hubby's other grandad.
The 1911 census is currently free to view on some websites and is full of some fantastic inspiration for grandparent names :)

Shapechanger · 07/09/2013 14:41

Wilfred, Ernest, Cecil, Cedric Ugh.

And Walter? Appalling and weedy. I feel your dh's pain.

Why do you want a stodgy old grandad name associated with pipe and slippers? I don't have a DS but I would want something that could at least be associated with some dynamism and masculinity.

MortifiedAdams · 07/09/2013 14:42

Arg was going to suggest Sid.

Lawrence?
