The same names seem to come up in rotation on nearly every list here. Not a bad thing. But Naomi doesn't feature.
Any thoughts on it? Is it common i.e. popular?

It's okay. Don't love it, don't hate it.

Have noticed that some people pronounce it Nay-Oh-Me with an accent on the 2nd syllable and some people Nayomee with a shorter 'O' and accent on the first syllable. If you have a strong preference one way or the other I'd avoid it on the grounds people will get it 'wrong'...

ImaginaryHat · 21/08/2013 19:37

I love it but wouldn't use it for the reason pootlebug says. I even find myself pronouncing it differently each time I say it so that counts it out for any future dd for me! I do really like it though.

ZolaBuddleia · 21/08/2013 19:40

It feels rather dated to me, for children of the 70s.

dufflefluffle · 21/08/2013 19:40

Like it - also Noemi which is pretty too....
I have known a Nay-o-mee all my life and never heard it pronounced any other way than than...
No-ay-mee on the other hand takes a bit more getting used to (but is still pretty, pronouncable and unusual)

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 21/08/2013 19:53

I like Naomi, but I am biased - it is my lovely cousins name. She was born in the 1990's....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2013 19:54

Love it, but am biased.

JacqueslePeacock · 21/08/2013 19:56

I like it. Would you pronounce it NAY-oh-mee or Nye-OH-mee though?

Whatwhatwhat · 21/08/2013 19:56

I think it's lovely
Just not really sure

Campbell? Sorry, don't like it.

unimum93 · 21/08/2013 21:07

This is the name we have picked out for our little baby if its a girl!! really like it but as mentioned different pronunciations can be confusing.. We would say Nye-oh-mee, whereas my Mum thought -Nee-oh-mee. Either way I'm guessing those around you will alter it to whatever way you pronounce it.

Whatwhatwhat · 21/08/2013 21:23

That's what I think unimum. I've only heard it as nay-oh-me and sod it that's what people will quickly realise it is.
The Campbell link doesn't really bother me at all. Bible predated her by a pretty significant margin.

miffybun73 · 21/08/2013 21:26

I think that it's a lovely name and would pronounce it as nay-oh-me.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 21/08/2013 21:27

It's lovely, I have a ten year old one!!

She is a Na-o-mi

Lovely name, not too common & not too out there.

MelanieCheeks · 21/08/2013 21:27

I like it. Campbell is yesterday's news, I'd think bike or Naomi long, a local politician (and great female role model)

Bonsoir · 21/08/2013 21:27

Jewish.

MelanieCheeks · 21/08/2013 21:27

Bike? No, bible. Stoopit autocorrect t

motherinferior · 21/08/2013 21:28

I've got another 10 year old one! I know a few other Naomis too.

TerraNotSoFirma · 21/08/2013 21:32

A Naomi at school was teased because it spells I moan backwards.
I think it's a nice enough name though.

Chubfuddler · 21/08/2013 21:36

I love it (biased). I find with any name that can be pronounced in more than one way people take their lead from the parents. Normal people do anyway.

RaRaZ · 21/08/2013 21:37

I love it Smile

Chubfuddler · 21/08/2013 21:37

jewish

WTF bonsoir? And?

CockyFox · 21/08/2013 21:41

I love it it was on our original list had DS been a DD but I would pronounce it Nay-o-me and DH says Nye-O-Me so was knocked off.

Bonsoir · 21/08/2013 21:41

It's a typically Jewish name.

Kikibee · 21/08/2013 21:41

I hate it sorry, especially with the confusion of double pronunciation
