Good names from Literature

DD has a first name that is a character from Little Women (and Family Guy which we didnt realise til well after she was born). Her MN is "in Wonderland".

I read a lot as a child and still do and as well as loving the names, I like the literary connection.

I have no clue of what to name this baby - dont know yet if boy or girl - but part of me is so tempted to carry on the literaey theme.

Can you suggest me a few nice names that are from literature (almost obviously so)?

Excellent girls list, but I think using another LW name might be taking the biscuit. I agree, Boys names are harder.

I feel aswell that Meg is a LW name, where as some literary names, well, it jist doesnt come to.mind when the name is said.

The only one I can think of is Juliet - the mind automatically goes to Romeo and Juliet.

Hmmm....didnt ever think of the Narnia children - may have to incorporate one of their names in.

What about Beatrix? I know she was an author rather than a character but the name instantly draws me to her?

I want a name like Hermione without actually being Hermione. Something intrinsically that character when you hear it.

I must admit that, even as an English teacher, LW isn't the first thing that springs to mind when I hear the name Meg (I think of Meg and Mog so still literary!) so I've put names that aren't too out there. My favourite literary name is Antigone but it's a bit much really.

DD1 was named after a (French) character in Birdsong. We changed the spelling though to a shorter version, to tie in with an ancestor with the same name. This reminds me, I must get DD1 to read Birdsong :)

I really like Juliet, I know a Juliet and it works beautifully as a name, yet you don't get many of them about.
