Is Eric a winner or does it seem a bit nerdy?

I'm of a generation that thinks of it as being a "Dad's name" but then I met a 2 yr old called Clive the other day so I guess it's probably old enough to be due a comeback.

Not keen, but I absolutely love Erica.

I know 2 that have been born this year. It's growing in popularity.

Eric still looks a bit wet (old man in the wrong sort of way - sorry). Erik, on the other hand, is a dashing Viking.

Oh I like Malcolm too! It sounds like a rugged Scottish hero doing battle on the moors. Eric should be standing at the prow of his longboat waiting to greet adventure on the horizon!

I quite like it. But I've just come off a thread where the choice was Albert or Arthur!! so next to those two names Eric seems cool and contemporary and although it's an old man name, it's not a cliché old man name.

Malcolm is another name that is better than Arthur or Albert. I don't mind Clive either!

Very helpful responses! The consensus seems to be that adding the k and taking away the c makes it a bit less nerdy eh? I've got a girl's name sorted, but really did underestimate how difficult choosing a boy's would be. I also like Malcom but fear it would become Malky.

Eric Malcolm Graham Derek Brian Clive Keith very similar to me. Same image. Grey and boring 60+ year olds. Hmm, maybe due a revival.
