Stupid reasons your dp gave to veto a name. (light hearted)

I will admit this came from a comment on the Imogen Tamsin thread as it reminded me of dh when we were looking for names for our children.

He doesn't like what he says are " weak" names so for him Christopher and Alastair are "weak names"

Wouldn't consider Tristan and Sebastian as they were gay names.. (err how the F can a name be gay?)

and it was incredible for a guy who went to a all boys school the amount of girls names that were vetoed because it reminded him of a girl from when he was at school.....

I was like... Hmm

Disclaimer this is considered to be lighthearted..

Obviously I had sound reasons for each of the suggestions he came up with like " No I dont like it" :)

I wasv newly pg (so new I didn' t realise) when dh' s GM died. When we found out we were having a girl, I suggested we call her after GM ie: Nice name with a bit of Old Lady Chic. DH said "But I only ever called her Grandma".

Sorry to start up this thread again but after a particularly frustrating conversation with dp last night I need somewhere to vent! His views are:

Emmeline – sounds like Windolene
Thea – Not really a name. Just ‘The’ and ‘A’ put together by someone lazy
Eliza – An annoying Victorian woman’s name
Abigail – Sounds Australian!
Eleanor – Sounds like Lenor the fabric conditioner
Niamh – Sounds too foreign and no one will know how to pn it
Joy – A Hippy name

His suggestions so far are Sophie or Sophia. That’s it!

We’ve not even started looking at boy’s names yet, so got that fun still to come.

Avoid Sophie there are 3 a class round here.

Dh vetoed esme on grounds he had never heard of it and accused me of making it up!
