What are your thoughts? Is Wallace too "and Gromit"; Wally too "Wall-E"? Too 'old man' still or back to being fresh and retro?
I've come to quite like the name but I'm a bit on the fence if it's ready for a comeback yet!

No No No.

Wallace is an old man name too far IMHO.

Wasn't Owen a old man's name. My great Uncle Owen would be 110 if he was alive. How old is Alexander the Great? With old names like Harry and Henry making a comeback I believe many others will too. I know I don't want a name that is too common and a little unique! William, Allacyn, and Wallace go well together too! I just need help with a middle name. Our last name is Stafford. Wallace is expected January 20, 2014.

My first name is Wallace. My whole life I've HATED it. Growing up it made me feel really weird and odd, and had a tendency to make me shy. My middle name is also a surname, so I didn't have a backup. So the alternative was Wally, which I also hate; it sounds like some silly kid's name. I asked my parents why they hung this albatross around my neck. My daddy was irritated and indignant and cited some silent movie star with the first name Wallace who was popular when he was a boy. So that's it, I was named after some long forgotten old silent movie star with pancake makeup. Sheesh.

I know a young boy who has Wallace as his middle name. From a family surname.
I quite like it. I would call him ace if I wanted to shorten it.
Or, from what my kids call themselves... wall. If he was my kid, he would probably nickname himself wall.

Love Wallace

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/09/2021 16:27

Nope. Wally is still used as (retro/minor) insult and Wallace is just asking for that. I can see Walter (Walt) making a big comeback sooner or later though. Similarly if you want nn Ace, I'd use Asa instead.

Agh, another Zombie! Why do I always forget to check? Grin

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 07/09/2021 16:31

I love it but I too agree it would be shortened to Wally which isn't great.
Sorry. It's hard when you find a name you love.

Absolutely terrible.
Imagine if poor little Wally had to have grommets fitted lol
