Which one would be your choice out of Seraphina or China?
Honestly are these a bit too way out or do you think they are acceptable to use as first names?

Well, if you need to ask whether they are a bit too way out .....

DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 20/06/2013 09:26

Although I would never call my own child it, I don't think Seraphina is that way out.

China, on the other hand...

forgetmenots · 20/06/2013 09:26

Seraphina hands down.

SoupDragon · 20/06/2013 09:28

Seraphina is Ok (too fancy for my taste though) but China is dreadful.

MadamNoo · 20/06/2013 09:29

sorry, definitely no to China
Seraphina is better but yes a teeny bit pretentious IMO. How about Serena, Selena, Josephine..?

RoooneyMara · 20/06/2013 09:32

she would go through life fielding jokes about plates. It's a pretty word but not the most amazing of places either

Lucielou123 · 20/06/2013 09:35

Seraphina is quite pretty. Does it have a meaning? Think China sounds like a made up model name or a popstar!

RoooneyMara · 20/06/2013 09:42

seraphina means angel or cherub, I suppose, it's from the word seraphim

RoooneyMara · 20/06/2013 09:44

[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seraph here]

RoooneyMara · 20/06/2013 09:44

sorry here

apreciousbabygirl · 20/06/2013 09:45

I think I do prefer Seraphina to China myself actually, I didn't know it had a meaning behind it but it's good that it's a nice one Smile

The only China I know is Chyna Parks from the Disney Channel programme ANT Farm.

Do you have any links with China?

notso · 20/06/2013 10:06

Seraphina is quite pretty.
I did think it was a Disney princess although on Googling actually Princess Seraphina seems to have been the first recorded drag queen Grin

notso · 20/06/2013 10:07

China is not so good unless you have a Chinese connection and then it's more of a middle name IMO.

burberryqueen · 20/06/2013 10:10

China is ok but she would have annoying people calling her chinadoll or chinaplate or chink(yes i think that would happen)
India might be better if you would like to name your dd after an Asian country.
Seraphina is lovely.

Floggingmolly · 20/06/2013 10:13

I know a Seraphina. Don't like it, though. I've never heard China used as a name, it's awful.

VBisme · 20/06/2013 10:14

I really don't like China as a name (or India, Texas, etc), but Seraphina is nice.

RoooneyMara · 20/06/2013 10:19

I suppose it's better than Harlow Grin

TeWiSavesTheDay · 20/06/2013 10:22

Seraphina is very pretty - but odd on a chubby, active not at all gentle toddler (ie most toddlers)

Not keen on China.

buttercrumble · 20/06/2013 10:22

Sorry China is dreadful, Seraphina is ok

Madamecastafiore · 20/06/2013 10:23

Seraphina is about much in my opinion and China just makes me get all T'Pau!!!!

MortaIWombat · 20/06/2013 10:35

The only China I know is a man.

squoosh · 20/06/2013 10:37

China is bizarre.

Seraphina is better, far too frilly for my tastes though.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 20/06/2013 11:08

Seraphina is lovely,china is awful.

ZolaBuddleia · 20/06/2013 11:10

Seraphina is lovely. China is, for me, in the same bracket as Chardonnay, Maddison, Armani etc
