Would you name a baby after a brand of chocolate?

This is slightly hypothetical, but....

My family has Estonian roots and was looking at Estonian names. My favourite boys name is Kalev however it is a popular brand/make of chocolates. Would that put you off?

I highly doubt I will name a non English name but interested to hear opinions.

Wouldn't bother me as I've never heard of it as a brand

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 08/06/2013 15:38

Cadburys no, Kalev I have never heard of

littlewhitebag · 08/06/2013 18:52

I was rather hoping for it to be Bourneville Grin

Strokethefurrywall · 08/06/2013 19:21

I thought you were going to say Hershey.

No, naming after chocolate would put me off. No more than naming my child Jack Daniel after the drink would anyway!

Kalev is nice, go with it!

Layl77 · 08/06/2013 19:22

Lindt? No it wouldn't bother me either as its not popular here.

BrokenBananaTantrum · 08/06/2013 19:24

Terry???

BoundandRebound · 08/06/2013 19:24

Although doesn't it mean dog?

Turniptwirl · 08/06/2013 19:28

I have a cousin who was named after a body spray... No, not impulse, fortunately it's not been around for as long as I can remember

allinatizz · 08/06/2013 19:30

I almost thought you were going to say "Terry".

Kalev sounds fine though! Smile

Wildwaterfalls · 08/06/2013 19:30

I quite like Milka for a girl Grin

allinatizz · 08/06/2013 19:31

Turniptwirl I KNOW your cousin! Shock

She showed me the old TV ad for her namesake bodyspray! I can't believe there would be many more people out there named after bodysprays, can there?!

ExitPursuedByABear · 08/06/2013 19:32

Terry Grin

AuntieStella · 08/06/2013 19:33

Lila Pause is a major global chocolate brand. Doesn't seem to put people of Lila.

kelda · 08/06/2013 19:33

Godiva would be great as a girl's name Smile

and Leonidas, Leo for short for a boy.

GoldenGreen · 08/06/2013 19:56

Freia is a Norwegian chocolate brand - nice name I think

Turniptwirl, is she named Limara? Did the advert go "remember my name"?

pooka · 08/06/2013 20:25

Suchard, no.
Lindy and galaxy - no again.

Kalev - fine

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/06/2013 20:39

Thornton could work for a boy, IMO.

kelda · 09/06/2013 07:53

and Jacques is obviously fine for a boy.

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2013 08:01

I thought it would be Hershey for a boy which I think would be quite cool

telsa · 09/06/2013 10:19

Fine. Just as Kit (Kat) is fine!

kelda · 09/06/2013 10:38

Grin at Kit and Kat. Very good.

Slippysnow · 09/06/2013 13:53

Is it wrong I'm swayed more towards Hershey now ;)

Well, my youngest is named after a brand of marg. I'm sure she'll wish it was chocolate instead when she's older...
