Jo - by far. I know loads, all short for Joanne.

Amongst male friends:

Mark.

I was born early 80s, most common girls names were Laura, Claire, Rebecca and Nicola. Boys were David, Stephen and Michael

born in early 80's , I know quite a few Claires but also know a lot with my own name (no one has mentioned it yet), there were a few Marks in my class at school, a few Nick's and Victoria was quite popular.

I was born in 1979. My year at school had 8 Katherine/Catherines and associated nicknames. Also several Joannes and Sarahs.

Boys-Matt/Jeremy/Andy all popular.

Mid 80s, had 4 Daniels and 2 Danielles in my class at school.

Born late 70s. Women... probably Debbie or Sara. Men.. maybe David or Stephen / Stefan, though Marc too actually.

But my friends range in age from 18-65 and are spread across 4 countries (mainly UK-Germany). So I don't think it reflects a particular naming trend.
