Girls' names similar to 'Lux' and 'Quinn'...

I like strong-sounding unfussy names for girls. I love both of these but need more of a shortlist. Any thoughts? Are these two the right side of 'try hard?'

Thanks Jenai

I like thinking about girls' names. Got boys myself

SingleBelle · 30/05/2013 20:29

Quinnifer?

JenaiMorris · 30/05/2013 20:32

I might have to steal a girl child so I can name her Stevie Grin

at Quinnifer. Quinn makes me think of Jane Seymour. I'm not sure if that's good or not, but I'm not keen.

MortifiedAdams · 30/05/2013 21:01

I really like Stevie. Would people do Hmm face at it in RL though?

IKnowWhat · 30/05/2013 21:53

I love short strong girls names but I am not keen on Lux (too soapy) or Quinn (boys name)

How about

Another vote for Scout. And I like Quinn - it's a pretty unisex name

sonniebonnie · 01/06/2013 21:31

Quinn is a mainly a boys' name in the UK. It sounds strong and masculine to my ears and I know only boys with the name.

Lux might work for a girl, but I personally don't like it very much.

ShadowStorm · 01/06/2013 22:20

I know someone who has a girl Stevie.

She said that a lot of people get confused about the child's gender and assume Stevie is a boy to start with.

Please not Scout. It hasn't successfully transitioned into a regular name in the 60+ years since the book was published and there is a reason for that.

iclaudius · 02/06/2013 12:26

Go with lux it's great

twinklestar2 · 02/06/2013 21:22

Another vote here for Stevie.

I don't mind Lux. It doesn't make me think of soap.

hellokitty123 · 02/06/2013 21:36

Quinn is a boys' name. Lux is a little better but not that feminine either imo. Stevie is normally short for Steven, isn't it? Would she be Stevena?

EleanorFarjeon · 02/06/2013 21:38

Very ugly names. They sound like characters in a bad sci-fi movie.

nooka · 04/06/2013 05:46

Go for Judith/Jude. Fab name :) prefer Estelle or Stella to Estrella, which to me is quite frilly. Sorry to say that I agree with the consensus that neither Lux (soap) or Quinn (which is originally from an Irish surname btw, and despite Glee sounds more boyish to me).

But then I don't really like unisex names, seems like a bit of a nuisance to me.

CheerfulYank · 05/06/2013 02:15

Quinn is a girl's name to me because I'm American. :) I think it's nice. We don't have any supermarkets called that and quim isn't a word here.
