DC No 4 - nameless boy, Alistair or Felix?!

Baby No 4 is late, presume he's decided to stay in until I've chosen a name Hmm

Alistair (Alastair) or Felix? Love both equally but both have issues. DC 1&2 have the first initial 'A' so we could potentially have 3 A names - bit weird?

Felix is raising many eyebrows and H is not entirely keen but could be persuaded.

Help!

If you're that unsure, why not wait til he's born and see which he suits?

mumbaisapphire · 05/05/2013 12:51

Alastair is really nice. I prefer it with an 'a' rather than 'I'. I really wouldn't worry about your other DC's having A names either. I know some people do worry about mail confusion but really it's 2013 and for these boys snail mail will be a novelty! Felix is fine. I don't love it. Whereas Alastair is a nice classic name and I think fairly under used.

MummyBurrows · 05/05/2013 18:17

I very much prefer Alistair...if only because Felix instantly makes me think of cats and the brand of cat food...

SmallShips · 05/05/2013 20:30

I think I prefer Alistair/Alastair too... I think Confused

Felix, if either my DD1 or DD2 had been a boy they would have been Felix. I love a name with an x in it.

Felix was horrid popular 6-7 years ago. Alastair is much mor timeless

squoosh · 05/05/2013 21:38

Alastair/Alistair.

Do not like Felix.

devonsmummy · 05/05/2013 21:43

Felix
I'm not keen on Alistair

SmallShips · 05/05/2013 23:20

What about Jude? Really unsure about this one but keep coming back to it.

I have an Alastair. Lovely but be prepared for everyone to spell Alistair. Or just go with Alistair for an easy life!

steppemum · 05/05/2013 23:29

my brother is an Alistair, it is pretty timeless, classic name, one of those nice names which everyone instantly knows and can say, but you are rarely going to have 2 of them in the class

Bowlersarm · 05/05/2013 23:31

Alastair/Alistair is timeless. Not sure if that matters

CheckpointCharlie · 05/05/2013 23:41

Jude is a good name! Alastair is a bit old fashioned and Felix is v popular but still nice. If I had had a DS he would have been Lawrence, Jesse or Christian.

KittenofDoom · 06/05/2013 00:21

Yes to Alastair.
Felix is over-popular and catty.
Jude the Obscure is a no-no for me.

cantreachmytoes · 06/05/2013 03:28

Felix - there's only one spelling. I know an Alastair who always has to spell his name out.

Tortoiseontheeggshell · 06/05/2013 03:30

What are the other DC names?

howcomes · 06/05/2013 04:05

Felix is Latin for lucky isn't it? It's a great name!

raisah · 06/05/2013 06:04

I share the same initial with both my brother and sister. It was confusing to start with but we found ways to get around it. So dont let that put you off if you like the name.

minouminou · 07/05/2013 14:23

Alistair.

Felix, while it's a good name, has been a bit of a passing fad over the last decade.

pigsinmud · 07/05/2013 14:31

Alastair, however 3 names starting with A might be a bit much as you say. Lots and lots of Felixs near me. I know a handful of Judes too.

thermalsinapril · 07/05/2013 14:43

Felix is great, but Alistair is also nice and more unusual at the moment.

SmallShips · 07/05/2013 21:40

Alistair is looking like the 1st choice.

Just need to decide on spelling now!

Please spell it Alasdair!!

sleepingbeautiful · 09/05/2013 19:37

Alastair/Alasdair. Nice name, classic, classless, not over used. Works for a sporty outdoorsy type or serious scientist type etc.
I've come across quite a few small boys called Felix in the past few years. Seems to be favoured by wannabe posh families who whine out "oh Felix don't do that darling" with no real conviction, while the little brat carries on doing it anyway. Have come across similar with Hugo and Rufus. Sorry to stereotype all those with a well behaved Felix/Hugo/Rufus..
