Baby girl is due in 3 weeks, her name was narrowed down to Arianna as long as it suited her but a "friend" of mine has just named her little girl this Angry so know we are back to the drawing board... I did post earlier for thoughts on diff names but what do u think of the variations of arianna?

Arabella
Annabella
Ariella

Weirdly enough I have Arianna earmarked for my little lady to be, and my greatest fear is that someone will someone name their baby this before she arrives. I feel better reading all of the 'name her that anyway' posts here! Having said that I would like a back up, and I think I really like Aurelia, but am unsure of pronunciation. Am I right in thinking its Or-ray-lee-a?!! (Dodgy phonetics, sorry!)

That's how I'd pronounce Aurelia. Another similar name is Allegra.

Ariane is a version of Arianna which can be pronounced differently, and, quite honestly, is nicer

I LOVE Aurelia (either pronounced Oh-RAY-lia or maybe Oh-RELL-lia).

I do like Arianne too and think that if that was your first choice you should stick with it, but I can understand why ou might not really want to now.

FWIW, I much prefer Annabel or Annabella to Arabella. I also like Amabel and Amalia.

How about:
Ariadne
Aria
Ariana
Ariane
Brianna
Carrie
Caroline
Christiana
Katerina
Harriet
Henrietta
Rhiannon
Karina
Adriana
Mariana
Oriana (o-RYAH-nah, according to the Internet)
Oriane
Ariadna

The Daily Mail reliably informs me that Imogen Thomas has named her baby Ariana Siena so don't be surprised if it peaks a bit amongst those that like to read trashy celeb magazines!

I want to tell you to stick to your guns but if you live near your friend and your girls are likely to be in the same school, it'd annoy me.

I like Arabella and Annabel (but Annabella is too frilly for me and I'm not sure about Ariella).

Liliana

I like Arianne more than Arianna - that extra a at the end ruins it. Same with Annabel / Annabella -
Arabella makes me think of Arabella Buckley from the Enid Blyton books! Not keen. What's short for Arabella? Arry? Prefer Annabella to Arabella. What was the other name again? Ariella. Again, I'd make it simpler by sticking to Ariel (pronounced Aree-elle)

Arabella is an extremely gorgeous name. When we were considering it for our DD it was termed an "aspirational" name on here.

What's wrong with having aspirations I say?!
