Hard one...how to get Kitt without using Christopher...

Or Christian etc...
There must be a long name with a 'kit' beginning middle or ending.
But I can't find one.
I like unusual names,Cornish,old English,old Norse,Celtic,or just underused Names. (I don't want an 1980's name though Wink )

It may have to be a rather a tenuous connection.
If anyone can find one,it'll be you lot. Thanks

I have a name sorted for a girl, and I don't much care for Katherine anyhow...
I'm going with Just Kit,or Kitto...maybe.

Kitchener?

My personal opinion is that if you want a child to be named a specific thing, then put that on the birth cert. Otherwise the shortening that ends up sticking may not be the name you wanted. Eg, your Christopher-called-Kit may end up by secondary school as Christopher-called-Christy leaving you gritting your teeth as that was the shortening you always hated kind-of-thing.

RobinSparkles · 15/03/2013 16:37

I agree that Kit is fine just on it's own.

However, what about:

Keith

Hmm

No, thought not.

Shr0edinger · 15/03/2013 18:47

Nightrider, kit for short

lucywiltshire · 15/03/2013 19:42

what's the problem with having an Arlo and a Jago?!

FriggFRIGG · 15/03/2013 19:43

I thought it was a bit matchy...

Kitson
Kester

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/03/2013 19:48

Hello Kitto. Grin

I used to have an Auntie Kit - it was short for Katharina.

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 15/03/2013 19:51

I really like Beckett.

mewkins · 15/03/2013 20:53

Kitson has a good ring to it.

mewkins · 15/03/2013 20:55

Ooh but yes, Keith is due a revival. Can you imagine what fun it would be to announce that you've called your baby Keith?!

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 15/03/2013 21:03

AHEM! DP is called Keith!
The kids call him Ken or Kenny! Grin

FriggFRIGG · 15/03/2013 21:04

That would be fun...

Killian? Possibly sounds too kill-y.

FriggFRIGG · 15/03/2013 22:47

Yes....much to kill-y

Anyhoo,I've decided it'd be Kit or Kitto,if it's going to be kit...IYSWIM.
I've given up trying to find a long name I like enough.

I really like Kit as is. Great name.

Christelle2207 · 17/03/2013 14:35

I have got the same dilemma because I also love kit (not sure about double t though).
The other one I like is Pip, as in great expectations. But not keen on Phillip and not sure you can be a grown up called Pip, I do however know two grown up Kits.

IAmLouisWalsh · 17/03/2013 22:02

It has already been said, but Kester? There was one at DS1's nursery and I love it.

telsa · 18/03/2013 20:03

Kitchener, Keith, Birkitt, Hackitt, Carson, Kitaj

olivertheoctopus · 19/03/2013 23:19

I know of a Kit. That's his full name. Although I thought Kit was short for Christopher normally.

olivertheoctopus · 19/03/2013 23:21

PS with a double t I just think 'car from Knightrider'...
