Gosh if they have a girl the Diana/ not Diana decision will employ the whole PR/politics industry

Caoimhe · 03/12/2012 17:39

What about Richard for a boy, a la Richard the Lionheart? (Sadly Richard ii and Richard iii were not people you'd name anyone after!)

Caroline for a girl? Isn't Kate's mum called Carol?

Diana will deffo be a middle name for a girl. I think Elizabeth is too obvious as a first name but will be a middle name instead.

forevergreek · 03/12/2012 17:43

They have about 6 names anyway don't they usually, so can put them all in pretty much ( it's just what order)

stifnstav · 03/12/2012 17:43

Carole. Definitely.

InTheBoonies · 03/12/2012 17:45

My guess Adelaide Mary Diana for a girl

Not sure for a boy. I think it'll be a girl!

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/12/2012 17:46

I think William said Diana would be used if it was a girl in an interview ages ago. Probably as a middle name.

For a girl it's likely to be Elizabeth,Victoria,Alexandra,Charlotte. Lovely though Isobel and Olivia are, they're not exactly traditionally Royal names are they. The only reason the Queen has granddaughters called Autunn and Savannah is because the father is untitled and thoroughly disinterested in being Royal per se. Princess Anne's son, whose name evades me.

For a boy George,Arthur, Albert and um...all the others are in use currently aren't they?

ChippyMinton · 03/12/2012 17:47

Tut tut NewKateMumsnet - proper linky to poll please Wink

Caoimhe · 03/12/2012 17:48

Adelaide is an interesting idea!

Or maybe Philippa, after the wife of Edward III, she of the Burghers of Calais story.

HyvaPaiva · 03/12/2012 17:49

Prince Charles always said he had 'reserved' the name Victoria should he have a daughter. I think that William and Catherine will use it if they have a girl. She'd then be Queen Victoria II which sounds fitting.

For a son, perhaps George, for no other reason than it has been used for Kings in the recent past and isn't in use by any immediate royal relatives at the moment. King George VII could follow the Queen's grandfather and father (although he was really called Albert).

whistlestopcafe · 03/12/2012 17:52

I think Philip or Helen.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 03/12/2012 17:59

Frances

FellatioNelson · 03/12/2012 17:59

Oh God, I do hope it's not Adelaide. It's bloody horrible.

legojunkie · 03/12/2012 18:03

Won't be Philippa.

Inertia · 03/12/2012 18:04

Maybe they'll go for something Welsh as a middle name, as they are living on Anglesey and he'll eventually be Prince of Wales? Maybe Huw for a boy?

Elizabeth Diana would be safe middle name bets for a girl I reckon.

First name sure to be something traditional - George or Albert after the Queen's father maybe.

Caoimhe · 03/12/2012 18:04

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden came over all radical and called her daughter Estelle. I think I'd prefer Queen Adelaide to Queen Estelle!!!

Badvocsanta · 03/12/2012 18:07

Elizabeth
Alexandra
Victoria
Mary

George
Albert
Arthur
Edward

Caoimhe · 03/12/2012 18:12

Gah, of course it won't be Philippa! I forgot about her sister!!

There haven't been many Queens Regnant to nick names from - Matilda was never really Queen and Anne is out, which only leaves Mary, Elizabeth and Victoria.

You need to look at Consorts for good names.

LadyofWinterfell · 03/12/2012 18:12

Edward's daughter is called Louise, not Alice. She is Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary.

George Louis Charles or maybe Anne Elizabeth Rose?

FellatioNelson · 03/12/2012 18:14

Oh so she is. I am getting it wrong all over the shop. Grin

Badvocsanta · 03/12/2012 18:20

Jane?
Margaret?
Georgina? (Diana's ancestor?)

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 03/12/2012 18:23

Where are the just back from? Think it might be a holiday baby! Mauritius? Maurice or Maureen :o

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 03/12/2012 18:24

Plain and simple go for Jane.

Caoimhe · 03/12/2012 18:37

Edward III had a son called Lionel and a son-in-law called Enguerrand - anybody fancy placing bets on either of those names?

Selky · 03/12/2012 18:45

David for a boy

Charlotte for a girl Or Alexandra.
