Jax?

We are expecting ds2 in April and DH has just said he LOVES the name Jax........I can't decide if I like it or not.

I've always wanted a little boy called Jack which DH hates so it would be a kind of compromise on that.

I think I like it but am worried that a) our family will do that one raised eyebrow and whispers behind our back for a few months, b) our ds1 is called Harry which is very 'normal' so not sure they go together and c) can see me introducing him to strangers and having to say "no not Jack, Jax....." which could get very annoying.

I love the fact that DH feels strongly about it as I felt that I had more say than him over ds1's name and he's been working abroad for a lot of this pregnancy so has missed scans and appts etc.

What do you guys think?

I don't like it at all. Sorry.

TeaBrick · 01/12/2012 21:20

I don't like it either. It sounds like a nickname for Jacqueline to me.

BackforGood · 01/12/2012 21:20

I don't like it either.
Would definitely go with Jack, and you can always call him 'Jax' as a nn within the home if you want, but he'll not be continually having to explain "it's not Jack" for the rest of his life.

Bluestocking · 01/12/2012 21:20

Dear me, no. That's just awful.

TeaDr1nker · 01/12/2012 21:21

Funny, the only Jax I know is a lovely woman, her name is Jaqueline btw

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/12/2012 21:22

No.

hermioneweasley · 01/12/2012 21:23

No, sorry.

mellowcat · 01/12/2012 21:23

I don't like it really, how about Max or Rex?

cheeseandmushroomghostie · 01/12/2012 21:24

As in basement? No.

shoobidoo · 01/12/2012 21:25

or Dax?

Bunbaker · 01/12/2012 21:26

No. It sounds like a nickname not a proper name.

AlfieBear87 · 01/12/2012 21:30

Hmmm as I thought. I keep saying no to all the names he likes - I feel so mean!

Naming number 2 is definitely proving harder than number 1!

Jackson, nn Jax?

Silvaspring · 01/12/2012 21:47

YY to Jackson. Am I the only person who quite likes Jax? (although it does make me think of Ajax a bit).

Mandy2003 · 01/12/2012 21:51

Oh yes, Jax is the name of one of the main characters in Sons of Anarchy! But I think his full name IS Jackson. Excellent choice Xmas Smile

tilder · 01/12/2012 21:57

I'm sorry but it sounds like a cleaning product.

TaperJeanGirl · 01/12/2012 22:00

I like it, I instantly think of Jax from sons of anarchy, and thats no bad thing Grin

ARightOldPickle · 01/12/2012 22:01

I know one Jax and it's her nn (Jacqueline)

lucidlady · 01/12/2012 22:02

No no no to Jax as his "proper" name. As a nickname yes it's not too bad but otherwise sounds like my Hoover. Vax.

NellyBluth · 01/12/2012 22:10

Sounds sci-fi.

AlfieBear87 · 01/12/2012 22:11

Not 100% negative reaction then!

Jacobi maybe?

judefawley · 01/12/2012 22:26

Horrid.

SneezySnatcher · 01/12/2012 23:24

I taught a Jaxon (although I prefer the spelling Jackson). Could you use that and then Jax (or even jack) as a NN?

ZenNudist · 01/12/2012 23:27

I once knew a Dax. I don't think it was a nickname.
Jax is awful.
